Players and coaches of any and all sports should stick to what they know....sports. I do not need their opinion on anything outside their sports related job. If people hear what they think about politics or religion or any other controversial subject, they will probably lose fans as people tend to not like those who don't agree with them.
Of course, I don't entirely blame them. The were probably asked these type of questions intentionally, since a big star with an opinion sells. And of course they are entitled to their opinion. I guess what pisses me off is that people will think it is right or true because some uninformed "star" says it is. We have a hard enough time in this country getting information out that is not slanted or intentionally misleading by the big media conglomerates.
Let me give you a few examples: Steve Kerr, Golden State Warrior's coach, was giving his opinion about gun control. Shocker, he is for it. Blaming another shooting on lack of gun control. Why is he not talking about Chicago and the amount of people shot this year there? Over 2500 people shot in CHICAGO alone! Guess which city advocates gun control? Chicago, of course. Has it helped there? Not hardly.
LeBron James, currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA, has repeatedly criticized Trump as divisive. Now that is tame, I grant you. And he is certainly free to express his opinion, as the corporate news people repeatedly try to get him to do. They do it because they also hate Trump and it fits their agenda.
I wouldn't have a problem if the news media was not so biased against Trump. If you got opinions from both sides and have a fair debate about the issues. But that is not possible in this environment today. It is building to a head with the elections right around the corner. Hopefully, it will ratchet down afterwards.
I am all about free expression. And fairness. And logic. Let us know how you feel about the current state of affairs espoused by athletes, coaches and other celebrities.
