- A summary of the Facts & Figures of the events which will be held on Sunday 26 August.

Athletics

Women’s marathon: Bahrain can become the second NOC to win successive women's marathons at the Asian Games, after China (1990-1994, 2006-2010).

The fastest winning time in this event is 2:21:47, set by Naoko TAKAHASHI (JPN) in 1998.

Men’s 10,000m: Bahrain has won this event at the last three Asian Games: Ali Hasan MAHBOOB (BRN, 2006), Bilisuma SHUGI (BRN, 2010), El Hassan EL ABBASSI (BRN, 2014).

Only Japan has won the men's 10,000m event at four consecutive Asian Games (1986-1998).

Women’s 100m: WEI Yongli (CHN) won this event in 2014 in 11.48, just 0.01 ahead of silver medallist Chisato FUKUSHIMA (JPN) and 0.02 ahead of Olga SAFRONOVA (KAZ) in bronze. It was the first time since 1978 that the medallists in this event finished within 0.02 of each other.

All three medal winners from 2014 are competing again in the event at the 2018 Asian Games.

Men’s 100m: Tosin OGUNODE (QAT) is the younger brother of Femi OGUNODE (QAT), who won this event at the Incheon 2014 Asian Games in a Games record 9.93.

Women’s shot put: China's gold medal streak in this event at each of the last 10 Asian Games is the longest for an NOC in a specific athletics event, ahead of Japan (9, pole vault, 1951-1982).

Men’s hammer throw: Dilshod NAZAROV (TJK) won the men's hammer throw gold medal at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Asian Games.

NAZAROV gave Tajikistan its first-ever Olympic gold when he won this event in Rio in 2016.

Basketball 3x3

General: 3x3 basketball is new to the Asian Games, which has featured five-a-side indoor basketball since the first Asian Games in New Delhi in 1951.

Women’s: The 2018 women's 3x3 basketball world championship was held in Bocaue, Philippines. The host country competed alongside fellow Asian representatives Kazakhstan, Iran, China, Malaysia and Turkmenistan. China was the best-placed Asian NOC, finishing fourth.

Men’s: Qatar's men's team has finished in the top-six in each of their last three participations in the men's 3x3 basketball world championship (first in 2014, fifth in 2016, sixth in 2017).

Canoe/Kayak sprint

Men’s traditional boat racing 500m: On the only other occasion this event was held at the Asian Games, in 2010, Indonesia won ahead of Myanmar (second) and China (third).

Women’s traditional boat racing 500m: This event has been held at the Asian Games only once before, in 2010. China won gold ahead of Indonesia (second) and Thailand (third).

Equestrian

Eventing individual jumping: In 2014, 32-year-old Abdullah Waleed SHARBATLY (KSA) beat 39-year-old Satoshi HIRAO (JPN, silver) and 38-year-old Taizo SUGITANI (JPN, bronze). It was the first time in Asian Games history that all medallists in this event were older than 30 years.

Eventing team jumping: Japan (4), Saudi Arabia (2) and Qatar (1) have won gold in this event.

Golf

Men’s individual: In 2014, PAN Cheng Tsung (TPE) won this event at the Asian Games.

Japan (3) has taken most golds but not since Tomohiro KONDO (JPN) won in 1998.

Men’s team: Chinese Taipei won gold at the 2014 Asian Games, and also in 2002.

YU Chunan (TPE) was part of Chinese Taipei's gold-medal winning team in 2014. The only golfer to have won two gold medals in this event is Taro OKABE (JPN), in 1990 and 1994.

Women’s individual: Republic of Korea golfers have won four of the seven gold medals at the Asian Games, including at the last three editions (2006-2014).

Women’s team: Thailand won gold in the women's team event at the 2014 Asian Games, ending a run of three gold medals for Republic of Korea (2002-2010).

JetSki

Endurance runabout: Teera SETTURA (THA) won the men's closed course runabout 800 event at the World Finals in 2012 and 2013 and the runabout 800 open event at the 2014 World Cup.

Aero SUTAN ASWAR (INA) won the endurance runabout open event at the Asian Beach Games in both 2010 and 2014.

Ju-Jitsu

Men’s -77kg newaza: Abdelkarim ALRASHID (JOR) won gold at the 2018 Asian championships while fellow 2018 Asian Games competitor Olzhas NURTAKANOV (KAZ) took the bronze medal.

Men’s -85kg newaza: Mergen JORAYEV (TKM) claimed silver in this event at the 2018 Asian championships.

Karate

Women’s -55kg: This event will be held at the Asian Games for the third time. LE BICH Phuong (VIE) won in 2010 and WEN Tzuyun (TPE) claimed gold in 2014.

Men’s -60kg: Japan and Iran have both won two gold medals in the men's -60kg kumite event.

Amir MAHDI ZADEH (IRI) won this event in 2014. No athlete has won multiple golds in this event.

Men’s -67kg: Rinat SAGANDYKOV (KAZ) won this event the first time it was held at the Asian Games, in 2010. Hiroto SHINOHARA (JPN) beat SAGANDYKOV to claim gold in the 2014 final.

Women’s -61kg: Japan's Yu MIYAMOTO (2010) and Malaysia's Syakilla Salni JEFRY KRISNAN (2014) won the two previous gold medals in the women's -61kg kumite event at the Asian Games.

Shooting

Women’s skeet: KIM Minji (KOR) won at the Asian Games in 2014, having taken silver in 2010.

SON Hye Kyoung (KOR) won in 2002, one of her 10 medals in shooting at the Asian Games, the joint-most for Republic of Korea women in any sport (CHOI Jin-A, tenpin bowling).

Men’s skeet: Abdullah ALRASHIDI (KUW) took gold for Kuwait at the 2014 Asian Games and won the event in 2010, competing under the Olympic flag of the International Olympic Committee.

Sport climbing

Women’s combined: Akiyo NOGUCHI (JPN) finished in the top-three of the World Cup standings for the combined event from 2008 to 2016, including victories in 2008, 2009 and 2014.

Men’s combined: In the men's combined World Cup standings in 2017, the podium consisted of Tomoa NARASAKI (JPN, first), CHON Jongwon (KOR, second) and Kokoro FUJII (JPN, third).

Squash

Women’s singles: Malaysia has won this event a record four times since it was first held at the Asian Games in 1998, all by Nicol Ann DAVID (MAS).

Men’s singles: Hong Kong, China are guaranteed to win its first gold medal in a men’s event in squash.

Weightlifting

Women’s 75kg: KIM Un Ju (PRK) won at the 2014 Asian Games ahead of KANG Yue (CHN) in second and RIM Jong Sim (PRK) in third place.

Men’s 105kg: Ruslan NURUDINOV (UZB) won this event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
