In my opinion, you need a “Winning Attitude” and a strategy to reduce losses.

Alan’s rule #1: Play for fun. Find machines that stampede, haywire, light up, and give free spins. If it’s not fun, switch machines, or walk away. Watch other people play, get a sandwich, etc.

Alan’s rule #2: Become a session gambler. Don’t be the person sitting at a machine for hours at a time; here is how it works:

You take your gambling budget, say $100, and divide it into 5 $20 bills. Each $20 bill is a “session” at a slot machine. Play that $20 bill until you win or it’s gone. (hint: if you win some cash, cash out – put that chit in your back pocket, and start another $20 session). When the $100 is gone, your done for the day – limit your losses. And if you have money in your back pocket, decide if you are keeping the winnings or giving it back to the casino.

This kid gets it!

Alan’s rule #3: Look at the pay tables on the machines. Progressive slots only pay out big wins if you have the maximum bet; If that is $2.50 per spin, your $20 won’t go far. Look for machines that have good payouts at lower bets, like .50 a spin. This extends your play with more spins, so you have a better chance of hitting a jackpot.

FYI – I own an antique slot machine. Technically, I have a casino in my living room. If the house wins, that’s me!

Have fun in and out of the Casino’s!
