I remember when talking sports was a special moment where people who had common sense and knowledge of the game went into battle over mostly trivial but seemingly vital details about who and why their favorite player was better. We have reached a place where opinion is everywhere, and knowledge is one click away and yet we still have to deal with an unbiased opinion based on personal feelings. This is even more evident in basketball it seems every single person who has played any minutes on a basketball court can articulate the feelings, emotions, and mindset of every great NBA player these days.

I am on a mission to erase that mindset.

My blog will be centered on talking about ideas, historical events of the day and players who are transitioning into professionals and or exhibiting skill that can take them to the next level. We need more content about growth than we do about gossip, especially in the sports world.

An athlete’s story transcends race, nationality, and class we have a duty as the media to actively convey the truth in regards to our favorite athletes. Not just opinion based on numbers that don’t actually reflect the emotionality of sports.

Before I get too far ahead of myself, let me make a formal introduction. My name is Reel Robinson, an entrepreneur, and a lover of sports.

The sport I truly love and have dedicated most of my life too is basketball. I have been writing all of my life as well, publishing a popular sports column for College News Magazine and online. My attachment to sports goes much deeper than just pen to paper. I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and was a pretty good basketball player coming up. From that experience, playing with great players from my city and honing my individual skill in such a unique way I have found that coaching was a natural connection for me.

So I have been coaching young men for the last 5 years and have been doing pretty well building a strong program here in Arizona. I also train and work semi-professional basketball players for the Tucson Buckets, an American Basketball Association organization. My roots are deep in basketball and I came to SCORUM to spread the knowledge about the game I love and how it is changing.

I will be releasing blogs every Sunday on a variety of topics. I look forward to meeting the community, feel free to comment and find me on Facebook!
