Whereas Scorum is great for blogging, it does miss proper sports summaries. I understand there are a lot of other websites out there where we can find results on matches and sports if we were interested in them. Still, I believe Scorum can use some daily summaries of sports happenings, especially since a lot of sports are barely featured on the platform. This way, they will become part of the platform. Please let me know what you think in the comments.

American Football

In the NFL the Tennessee Titans won 30-9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was the match of Derrick Henry, running back of the Titans. His 238 yards was a new franchise record, beating the previous record of 228 yards set by Chris Johnson in 2009.

Basketball

In the NBA the Boston Celtics dominated every quarter against the New York Knicks and comfortable won that match 128-100. Jake Layman scored 24 points for the Portland Trail Blazers in their 108-86 win over the Phoenix Suns. The Suns were already 34-9 down after the first quarter. Despite winning the second and the fourth quarter they lost with a 22 points difference. In Salt Lake City the Utah Jazz won 118-91 against the Houston Rockets.

In the Euroleague, there was a close matchup between Anadolu Efes and Real Madrid. In Istanbul, the match was tied after the first quarter. Anadolu took a seven-point advantage in the second and expanded that to fourteen points in the third quarter. Real Madrid then came back in the fourth quarter scoring 24 points and only letting the home team score eight. Real Madrid won 82-84 in the end. Another Spanish team, Baskonia was also involved in a tight encounter with CSKA Moscow. The match was equal after the first and the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Baskonia made the difference and won 76-73. Fenerbahçe had an easier match against Panathinaikos. They won 69-81 in Greece.

Biathlon

The Men's Sprint race for the World Cup meeting in Pokljuka, Slovenia was won by Norwegian biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø, who was the by far better skier on the day. He was 16.1 seconds faster than Antonin Guigonnat (FRA), who was shortly followed by Alexander Loginov (RUS), who was 16.4 seconds behind Bø.

Bobsleigh

At the Bobsleigh World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia it was Germany that dominated the women's 2-bob. Anna Köhler and Lisa Sophie Gericke finished in third place and took the bronze medal. Russian sledders Nadezhda Sergeeva and Yulia Belomestnykh took the silver medal, whereas the gold was for Germany again. Mariama Jamanka and Annika Drazek outclassed the field with an advantage of 0.61 seconds.

Cricket

New Zealand won an away series against Pakistan for the first time in 49 years. The main achievement during the last match came from Will Somerville, who was a debutant in that game. He grabbed three important wickets and led his team to a 2-1 win in the series.

Field Hockey

The men's World Championship is well underway already. Today was the last group stage round in Group B. England and the Republic of Ireland were fighting for their last chance. England won it in the end with a 4-2 scoreline. Australia had already qualified as group winners before the match against China started. The men from down under were ready to make a show out of it and succeeded. China got beaten 11-0, but their two points in the ranking were enough to finish third and to qualify for the knock-out phase.

Floorball

At the Floorball World Championship, the quarterfinals were played. The Czech Republic had no problem at all with Denmark and won 10-1. Sweden had an even larger margin over Latvia, as they won the match 14-1. Finland was the better team over Germany and qualified for the semi-final as with a 6-1 victory. None of these were tight encounters, but the last match, between Switzerland and Norway, was much more exciting. The match had to go in overtime at a 2-2 score. Just 30 seconds in overtime Tim Braillard scored the goal that booked Switzerland a spot into the semifinals.

Football/Soccer

In the Serie A, Juventus expanded their lead over the opposition by beating third-placed Internazionale 1-0 in a direct confrontation. The goal scored by Mario Mandzukic gave them an eleven point lead over SSC Napoli, who still have their game in hand, however.

After PSV got beaten last weekend in the Dutch Eredivisie by Rotterdam based Feyenoord, they completely outclassed another Rotterdam team Excelsior today. In the 6-0 home win, Luuk de Jong scored two goals. Excelsior players scored two own-goals within eighteen minutes, which however were interrupted by halftime.

In Belgium equally last placed Waasland-Beveren shocked title-candidate Club Brugge. Despite an early lead when Ruud Vormer scored for Club Brugge, they gave it away in the later stage of the match. First Francesco Forte converted a penalty and a couple of minutes later Saulo Decarli scored an own-goal by heading the ball behind his own goalkeeper to give Waasland-Beveren the win.

In the Apertura Semi-Finals of the Liga MX, CF Monterrey won the first leg at home against league winners Cruz Azul with 1-0. The other semi-final between Club América and Pumas UNAM ended in a 1-1 draw. All four teams have everything to play for in the second legs in the upcoming week. Matchwinner for CF Monterrey in the opening leg was Rodolfo Pizarro.

FC Porto came 1-0 behind against Portimonense, but managed an easy 4-1 win in the end. Two goals from Moussa Marega, one in each half secured the win. Other goals came from Tiquinho and Yacine Brahimi. Porto's lead is up to five points over main contenders Sporting Clube de Portugal who will play against Desportivo Aves on Sunday.

Freestyle Skiing

In Copper Mountain the first Half Pipe World Cup of the season took place. Three out of six podium spots were reserved for American skiers. Aaron Blunck won the men's event scoring 96.25 points. He was ahead of Miguel Porteous of New Zealand and fellow American David Wise. The women's competition was the domain of Kelly Sildaru. The Estonian scored 93.00 points, which was 3.25 points ahead of Olympic champion Cassie Sharpe of Canada. The bronze medal was for American skier Brita Sigourney.

The moguls competition took place in Ruka, Finland. It was Canadian Olympic champion Mikael Kingsbury who took the gold. It was his 50th of his career. He finished ahead of Benjamin Cavet (FRA) and Walter Wallenberg (SWE).

The French women's Olympic champion, Perrine Laffont also won a gold medal in Ruka. She's only 20 years old but completely outclassed the opponents. The silver medal was for Yulia Galysheva (KAZ) and the bronze medal was for Tess Johnson (USA) who achieved her first World Cup podium spot in her career.

Handball

The Semi-Finals of the Asian Women's Handball Championship took place in Japan today. Hosts Japan took on China in a tight encounter. Both teams reached halftime in an 11-11 score. Eight goals scored by Nozomi Hara gave Japan the win and the ticket to the final, final score was 23-21.

South Korea had to take care of Kazakhstan and had it much easier than the Japanese. They won the match an with eight goals difference, 31-23.

Ice Hockey

Lots of matches in the NHL today. Two of which went into overtime. Dylan Larkin scored the overtime winner for the Detroit Red Wings against the Toronto Maple Leafs, after they gave away a 1-4 lead in the 3rd period. The Columbus Blue Jackets pretty much did the same, even though they had a 1-3 lead against the Philadelphia Flyers. A double by Travis Sanheim brought the Flyers back in the game, but Seth Jones won it for the Blue Jackets in overtime.

Elsewhere Colorado Avalanche won 5-2 against Florida Panthers after scoring three goals in the third quarter. Pittsburgh Penguins won 6-2 over New York Islanders thanks to an outstanding second quarter. The Canadian clash between Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens ended in a 2-5 win for the Canadiens. Tampa Bay Lightning won 3-2 against Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames beat Minnesota Wild 2-0 thanks to a double by Elias Lindholm. Alexander Ovechkin scored the last goal in a 4-2 win for the Washington Capitals over the Arizona Coyotes. Vancouver Canucks won 5-3 against Nashville Predators, Vegas Golden Knights beat Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 and Los Angeles Kings lost at home to New Jersey Devils, 3-6.

Luge

The Luge World Cup takes place in Calgary, Canada this weekend. In the Double Luge, Germany took both gold and silver. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt were the winners, while Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken had to settle for silver. The bronze medal went to Austrian athletes Thomas Steu and Lorenz Koller.

Wolfgang Kindl booked his third World Cup win of the season finishing ahead of Roman Repilov (RUS). Another Austrian, David Gleirscher took the bronze medal.

Snooker

The UK Championship is taking place in the Barbican Centre in York. The four semi-finalists coming out of the quarter-finals all had an easy match to claim their spot in those semi-finals. Only Tom Ford had to give two frames to his opponent Joe Perry, winning 6-2. The other three managed a 6-1 win (Ronnie O'Sullivan vs. Martin O'Donnell, Stuart Bingham vs. Kyren Wilson and, Mark Allen vs. Stephen Maguire).

Speed Skating

A double win for Pavel Kulizhnikov at the World Cup in Tomaszow Mazoviecki, Poland. The Russian managed to win both the 500 meters as well as the 1000 meters. In the 500 meters race, he finished ahead of Ryohei Haga (JPN) and Håvard Lorentzen (NOR), whereas in the 1000 meters race he beat Kai Verbij (NED) and again Lorentzen, who took his second bronze medal of the day. Japan won the men's Team Pursuit event ahead of Norway and Russia.

America's Brittany Bowe was by far the strongest on the 1000 meters race for women, finishing more than a second ahead of second-placed Miho Takagi (JPN). Daria Kachanova (RUS) took the bronze medal. Vanessa Herzog-Bittner won the 500 meters race ahead of two Russians, Olga Fatkulina and Kachanova, who took her second bronze. Also, the Japanese women won the Team Pursuit, ahead of Russia and Canada.
