Doing anything in life has consequences. If I decide to lay on the couch for the next two hours, I'm giving up the opportunity to do something more productive like write a Scorum article or get outside for some fresh air.

I do recommend that you give back to the community, but the coins will be yours to decide what to do with. The league depends on hosts and donors and does not make a profit.
- Learn How to Play and/or Improve Your Game
After each article I write about Scorum Poker, I hear something along the lines of "I don't know how to play poker." Well, here's your chance. We are a friendly bunch and will be happy to help you learn the game. Whether you're just starting or you want to improve your poker game, you should join us.
If you are new to poker, I would recommend watching streams of the games we play on @tuck-fheman's Twitch channel here. You can also watch instructional videos on YouTube and read articles about how to play online.
Don't make excuses! If you want to play (and you should), just join us and you will learn how to play.
- Join a Community and Make New Friends
When I first joined the Steemit Poker League, I had no idea that I would make over a dozen friends just from playing cards online. I now have a network of poker-playing friends that have come over to Scorum and play on ScorumPoker.com. We have interesting Discord and Telegram chats and even some voice chats now and then.
- Get Topic Ideas & Content to Write About
Inspiration for content can come from anywhere, and a lot of it can come from playing poker. If you're stuck and in need of something to write about, play poker with us and the ideas should follow.

- Exercise Your Mind in a Unique Way
Poker exercises your mind. Each hand comes with multiple decisions, and each decision will change your chances of winning or losing in a tournament or ring game. It's not a mindless activity, and keeping your brain active has many benefits.

- Support the Best Community on Scorum!
I'm biased, but I believe that the Scorum Poker community is the best community currently on Scorum. Playing in the league helps the community survive and grow. The more quality communities we have here on Scorum, the easier recruiting and retaining members will be.
- Grow Your Followers and the Number of People Who View Your Posts
While you should never beg others to view and upvote your posts, Scorum Poker does have an upvote channel in their Discord and becoming friends with other players is likely to increase your followers on Scorum.
