Poker teaches you a lot about people. Gaming or shall we say gambling teaches you even more. The Lucksaks and Scorum poker site is a place to go play many varieties of poker for free. Yes, free. Free is the only reason why I even tried to learn the games. I had nothing to lose but lots to win.

Without going too in-depth because this is a sports site, I was at a point where the distraction of learning something new was welcome. I have worked in the Flexo printing industry most of my life. My fellow coworkers were old American union tradesmen. They are a special breed of people. They are known for working hard and playing harder. I fit right in. If a bunch of us went out to a bar I was safer then sitting in my own home.

I prided myself, and still do, on earning their respect through hard work. Having four back surgeries doesn't come about from sitting on your ass doing nothing your whole life. When I was pregnant with my son, the men I worked with finally saw every day what their wives went through to have their children. My son was well loved by many before he was even born. Old union guys, once you earn their loyalty, give it freely to you in everything you do. In that period of my working life, it was the only time I ever heard the words, "GO SIT DOWN!"

What does this all have to do with poker you might be wondering? Most of the people that play poker are men. As I stated before it doesn't cost anything to play. You can earn Scorum and SBD but in all reality, it doesn't add up to a ton, money-wise. I am a gamer at heart. I love learning new games and poker does, for some, fall into gaming. A thing that is done for fun.

In life, there are so many real things to get upset over that me playing a hand in poker that should not be played, overbetting, underbetting, betting just so I can see what a person has in their hand, knowing I will lose and be out of the game, is all part of the fun for me. This concept seems hard for some to understand. Not all, but some.

There are a few poker terms I have had to learn while also learning to play.

Tilt: Tilt originated as a poker term for a state of mental or emotional confusion or frustration in which a player adopts a less than optimal strategy, usually resulting in the player becoming over-aggressive. ... One possible origin of the word "tilt" is as a reference to tilting a pinball machine. ~Google

Donkey: If a poker player is called a 'donkey,' he's a bad player who makes blatantly bad poker plays. A weak player. Donkey is also shortened to "donk" by many players to announce that they're playing badly or planning to, as in "I'm going to donk it up tonight."~Google

Trapping: Slow playing (also called sandbagging or trapping) is a deceptive play in poker where a player bets weakly or passively with a strong holding. ... A player must have a very strong hand.~Google

Add to the words above are the bazillion unsaid rules that you are expected to know. One example would be, 'not bet unless you have a really good hand and think you can win when someone as very few chips'. In this way, there is a better chance to 'knock the person out of the game' or if they do win the round they do not receive back a whole mess of chips.

Tempers can flare over not knowing unwritten rules.

All in all, learning to play Poker on The Lucksaks and Scorum poker site makes life interesting. Human behavior over the concept of winning has always been an interesting subject to me and continues to be to this day.
