Hello Scorum friends!
I just eclipsed the 100 followers mark, and couldn't be happier. I have been here on Scorum for just about 3 weeks now and I have been amazed at the amount of support I have received in such a short amount of time. At least for me it seems like a short amount of time. Maybe it is because the platform is still smaller and growing, I don’t know, but I am super appreciative of everyone that has followed me, up-voted, commented, or engaged in one of the Discord servers. I love commenting and up-voting as well, once I get the slider I will be able to do more.
This is an amazing community! So far I have earned 230 SCORUM with about that same amount that has yet to be paid out. Overwhelming support. I was thrilled to find out that I came in second for the Scorum Hall of Fame contest that @liuke96player holds each week and was awarded 10 SCORUM. And of course I have a place where I can write about sports! Something I wasn’t doing on Steemit. One thing I find fascinating is because of Scorum my interest in learning about and following more sports has grown incredibly. Seeing how passionate other community members here are about the sports they write about is contagious!
Let’s get Personal!
If you have been following me here on Scorum and have read most of my posts you know I like to get personal, I like sharing some kind of story that is sports related that comes from my life. Why do I do that? Because it is a great way for you all to get to know me better, and maybe even make the story more relatable to you. Also, I am terrible at keeping a journal, so this in a way becomes a journal entry. I have been saving all of these posts in Word format, and later will compile everything. Which I can hand down to my future kids one day, who of course will all be sports enthusiasts like myself.
Mistake
Now for a mistake that I made, I am mentioning this, so that no one else makes the same mistake. I didn’t realize or it was mentioned somewhere and I didn’t pay attention to it, but when you flag a post it takes down some of your VP. So I woke up this morning and was thrilled to see like 12 alerts. I was all excited to see so much engagement on my blog. Then I noticed that 90% of those were comments by a spammer. So I started flagging every post as spam, I have been seeing the same posts for a few days now and was a bit agitated. Next thing I know I look at my VP and it was way way way down. LOL. Oh my. Live and learn. Don’t make that mistake! And I don’t think I need to mention who the spammer is, everyone probably knows by this point. Just keep that in mind, you all probably are aware of that and I just spaced it. Haha
Scorum vs Steemit
I won’t write too much here, I just wanted to share some things that Scorum does better then Steemit. First off, I am not going to bash Steemit, I am still active over there, and will continue to post my cooking and baking videos and other things, but it is frustrating to use sometimes. I know there are other sites that you can use other then steemit.com, but I feel like there shouldn’t need to be all these other user interfaces to provide a better experience for you. Scorum for the win!
- I Love the Scorum interface. It is so easy to use. I love how easy it is to format your posts and make them look pretty. No coding involved. Steemit.com is horrible with that; you have to write in codes like hashes or asterisks just to make things bold or italicized. It is annoying. And adding source links? It is so easy to do here on Scorum.
- Notification Bell. I love how we have a notification bell that tells us when we get an up-vote and a comment, which is something steemit.com doesn’t have. Again there are other websites that have this kind of feature. The only thing that is weird is I am not always notified when someone comments on one of my posts. I see an up-vote notification but not always the comment. So I usually will go and check to make sure I don’t miss a comment. Something that I wish would be fixed. ☺
- Ground floor. I like that I came here earlier enough to be part of something newer. When I started on Steemit in late January, it had already been around for a very long time. This makes it very exciting for me, to see how Scorum will evolve and get better.
There you go my Scorum friends, a few thoughts I wanted to share and thank you for an amazing ride so far.
You Scorum Friend,
Matt aka @bayareasportsfan
