So I decided to send 500SCR to Hotbit from my SCR wallet, something I have done several times before with no issues. It had been a few months since I last sent coins there so I made a huge error.....I forget to put in the memo number.

Transaction to hotbit from scorum

I understand this is my error, it's on me

I made the mistake after 3 or 4 successful ones so for future reference consider if you were as big as an iconic bookmaker how many funds would be lost and "unrecoverable"?

Tried my best to recover

So I contacted the Scorum Telegram, surly someone has a good suggestion, 40 minutes later.....

scorum telegram

Ok fair enough, not your problem, my mistakes and pointed me where I thought, worth checking.

So I contacted Hotbit thinking if I send them the screenshots of my scorumwallet and the memo number surely they could resolve this some logical way referencing to my login I.P or if I sent more SCR at the amount requested. After 7 messages and 3/4 hours talking to 2 different people one sends me this...….

scam Hotbit.io

They wanted 0.3 ETH to send the 500 SCR back to my scorumwallet……..so they wanted $32 to send me back my $25 from thier left pocket/limbo..... This in my mind is the closest thing you will ever get to a scam, asking for funds to receive funds. Don't get me wrong I made the mistake and it would be logical to have a recover cost, max 0.01 ETH.

Although Scorum have obviously done nothing wrong here this is a good sign that the current system in place does not suffice if your accounting for new custom and the massive unexperienced world of gamblers that you want to come to crypto world.

So what have we learnt from reading this?

Dont forget to put in the memo number! (if you insist on still using hotbit)

Scorum needs to use a better exchange

(anyone who asks for coins to receive coins avoid them for obvious reasons)
