PALABUHANRATU, (PRLM) .- Facing the 2015 World Rafting Championship aka the World Rafting Championship (Rafting), the Indonesian Rafting Federation held the 2014 Pre-WRC championship in the Citarik River, Citarik District, Sukabumi Regency, Saturday to Wednesday (29/11 - 3 / 12/2014). The championship is to select a team representing Indonesia that applies as the host next year.

Media Relation Organizing Committee for International Rafting Federation 2014 Pre-WRC Adiseno, Abruu (11/29/2014), said, after setting aside Brazil and Australia in the bidding process, Indonesia was entitled to host the 2015 World Rafting Championship in Citarik River, Citarik District, Regency Sukabumi, from 29 November 2015 to 3 December 2015. However, one of the requirements to host the IRF provisions is the 2014 Pre-World Rafting Championship which was held a year before the 2015 WRC.

In addition, the readiness of lodging facilities, transportation, and experience in organizing international championships is considered by IRF.

According to him, the condition of a river that is feasible and safe for an inflatable boat race with six crew members or R6 (Rafting 6) is the main consideration. That was all the FAJ had passed in 2013 after being monitored by IRF President Willie Joe Jones himself.

"In essence, the international federation wants to test the readiness of the organizers and give foreign teams the opportunity to test the river," he said.

Adiseno explained, FAJI took the opportunity to become the host to improve the performance of national rafting. The reason is, in 2010, the FAJI team managed to reach second place under the Japanese host in the same championship. The main competitors for Indonesia are the Brazil, Japan, Kazakhstan and several European teams.

"Being the host gives the spirit of the athletes and organizers the spirit to prove that Indonesia is a champion nation," he said.

The participants were followed by 12 male teams and 4 female teams from a number of provinces. For the male category consists of Banten Youth, DKI Youth, West Java Youth, Malaysia, DKI Master, Banten Open, Central Java Open, West Java Open, East Java Open. While the female category consists of North Sulawesi, Banten, West Java and DKI teams.

The competition will be held on December 1, 2014 with sprint and head to head categories, continued on December 2 for slalom, and December 3, 2014 for down river race.

He explained, sprints and head to head are speed competitions in short distances, while head to head is done between two boats. Slalom is the agility of the rubber boat team through the goal which is divided into red poles to up against the current and green poles to flow.

"The three competitions are held in a short distance so that the audience can watch from one place to the beginning and the end of the match," he said.

While the last prestigious race was a down river race that resembled the original rafting activities. The competition waded along a 12-kilometer river where spectators could choose tense rapids as the area watched the match.

Previously, on November 29 and 30 2014, all teams were given the opportunity to test the track. "For the opening ceremony itself, it starts on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at 14.00," he said.

The rafting operator facilities, he said, are Arus Liar, Caldera, Kaki Langit, and Selarass will be used for all activities. The Pre-WRC is supported by the Republic of Indonesia's Navy Marine Corps, where Major General A Faridz Washington is the General Chairperson of the FAJI Committee.
