Every month Scorum holds the contest for writers. June’s contest was centered around the World Cup 2018 and the topic was “My first World Cup”. Writers were invited to share their stories about where their love for football started, no matter how long ago!

✨ The winner of June’s Contest and our Scorum Hero is  @ igorshina1966. Igor lives in Minsk. He has been a football and hockey fan from the age of 8, and also collects hockey figures and cards. In his post he told us about the World Cup in 1978, which was the oldest (40 years ago!) Championship which took part in the contest. 🙂

From a conversation with Igor:

What are your favorite football teams?

In Soviet times, I was a fan of Minsk Dynamo and the USSR national football team. Favorite hockey teams were CSKA Moscow and the USSR national team.

Favorite NHL hockey team - Montreal Canadiens from the 1970s, and favorite Soviet hockey player - Valery Kharlamov. Favorite NHL player - Guy Leffler.

When it comes to the present day, my favorite soccer teams are Barcelona in the time of Kruif-coach with Stoichkov and Romario ahead, MJ Ferguson for the whole period of his work and the Real Madrid in times of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Favorite player - Cristiano Ronaldo. Not because it's mainstream, but because he is really playing football! I myself played football for a long time in the style of Hristo Stoichkov, so he is also one of my most beloved players.

And in hockey?

In hockey, I'm rooting for Minsk Dynamo. Honestly not rooting, but suffering like all their fans. 🙂 I try not to miss their matches.

In your bio on the blogging platform it is written that you are also an avid collector. What exactly do you collect?

I collect hockey cards, hockey figures and other things related to hockey. Favorite theme - Soviet hockey. I have gathered a good collection of cards with autographs from the legends of Soviet hockey. Since collecting cards is not very popular in our country, I had to learn Corel and make the right cards by myself.
