Anyone who has ever been confronted with cancer can only applaud this action. The more money goes to cancer research, the more people we can help. I have experienced it with my mother. Fortunately, she survived 2x and is now healthy. Don’t want to lose her!

I support a cancer foundation every year but not like Maarten Van Der Weijden did ! What did he do?

Maarten Van Der Weijden became Olympic champion on the 10 km in open water of Peking 2008. Last Saturday he went in the morning at 4 am in the water with the aim to swim 200 km and raise money for the KWF Cancer Fund. Maarten is an ex leukemia patient.

Who knows the Netherlands knows that these kinds of actions are always accompanied by a mass of people on the side. And rightly so, the action is one to take off your hat.

He failed to make the 200km full, had to give up sick and exhausted on the orders of a doctor. This happened after 163km and 55 hours of swimming.

If you look at his hands and feet, you know he has gone to the limit.

With this, Maarten collected 2.5 million euros !! Thank you Maarten. Respect!
