According to the information I got from Reuters, Novak Djokovic decided to withdraw from the Paris Masters tennis tournament which will be held on November 2-8, 2020.
I quoted Djokovic's statement on Reuters, Wednesday (21/10/2020). "I did not participate in the Paris Masters because the tournament will not add to my points, but I will participate in Vienna and London because I have more points. This year I can "won 500 points in Vienna, because my performance there last year was not good," said Djokovic.
In the 2019 Paris Masters, Djokovic came out as champion. Thus, if he missed the tournament this year, it would not affect his points. Moreover, ATP has also revised the ranking system this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing players to maintain points from last year.
I just want to collect as many points as possible. I want to be listed as a world number one who can stay at the top of the ATP Tour for weeks. I will fight to achieve that desire, "said Djokovic.
Furthermore, Novak Djokovic is a 33-year-old Serbian who also has no objection if his competitor, world number two Rafael Nadal, participates in this year's Paris Masters.
Even though Nadal's participation in the Paris Masters will not have a significant impact on me, because the Masters tournament is not my priority, "Djokovic said, I quoted on Reuters.
Thus the information regarding the reasons behind Novak Djokovic's resignation from the 2020 Paris Masters, I hope this information is useful.
