Two youngsters are about to clash in Barcelona in 5 minutes time as Nicolas Jarry takes on Daniil Medvedev in this 500 event. Jarry has had a great run so far and is 4.00 to defeat Medvedev on clay. I was really impressed by his win vs Dimitrov yesterday having watched Dimitrov in the previous round expertly absorb and tame the power of Spanish veteran Verdasco. So for Jarry to defeat the versatile Bulgarian on clay was a brilliant result.

I think at the odds of 4.0 he is worth taking today vs Medvedev who is very consistent on all surfaces and has enjoyed a great start to his career (especially over the past year) but who is 1.25 to win today. Those odds are simply way too low. Medvedev has had the weaker players to contend with so far in Barcelona, namely McDonald of the US and Ramos of Spain. The latter was perhaps the harder match to win but doesn't compare to Jarry's victories over world number 3 Alexander Zverev and then Grigor Dimitrov yesterday.

Both these guys are 6ft 6inches tall but Medvedev moves much better on all surfaces than Jarry. Jarry relies on a big serve and flat forehand. Let's see if he can keep up his hitting standard today vs the Russian Bear.
