Andy Murray knocked out from the US Open 2018 while Rafael Nadal comfortably makes his way to the next round. While knocking out of this event, questions are raising about Murray’s career. In the 3rd round, the two Williams Sisters are gonna face each other. Nadal and Sloane Stephens yet again talked about the humidity and sweating increasing at the Flushing Meadows. The 24-year-old Spanish woman Garbiñe Muguruza also knocked out from this tournament. This is the latest news coming from the US Open 2018.
Murray did not win even against the Spanish player Fernando Verdasco. Verdasco won the match by 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 and 6-4. After defeated by Verdasco, Murray says, “When I get injured, that time I was the World’s No. 1 player.” Everything changed in the span of this 1 year. If everything worked as I planned then I think physically I may be recovered. In that case, in any event, it will be possible to come back. Now everybody is questioning about my career, and it is normal.”
The defending champion Rafael Nadal easily go to the third round. He defeated Canadian player Vasek Pospisil by 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2. After winning, Nadal talked about playing in the hot condition. The 32-year-old Spanish star says, “In this hot and sweat weather condition, it is really very unhealthy to play. It is not a very good or happy experience for us as well as our fans. The US Open in this situation is not good for Tennis.”
At the other end, by winning their matches Serena Williams and Venus Williams will face each other in the third round. It is the 30th meeting of the sisters in their career. In the 2nd round, Serena defeated German player Carina Witthöft by 6-2 & 6-2. By defeating Italy’s Camila Giorgi in 6-4 & 7-5, Venus Williams goes to the third round.
Last time the 2 sisters meet each other in the Grand Slam at 2017 Austraila Open. Serena won the match. At that time she was pregnant for three months. Serena says about their meeting, “It would have been better to see us later in this tournament.” and Venus says, “It is very early to meet her. Now both of us will want to play better.”
Defending champion Sloane Stephens came back from one set. By defeating world’s no. 134 player Anhelina Kalinina in 4-6, 7-5 and 6-2, Sloane Stephens goes to the next round. Stephens also talked about the hot condition. She says, ” I was sweating so much during the game that, I could not play my natural game.” Former Wimbledon champion Garbiñe Muguruza knocked out of this tournament. Czech player Karolína Muchová defeated her by 3-6, 6-4 & 6-4.
