Chennaiyin FC, in their last home match against Jamshedpur FC, will want to play like the reigning champions that they are and give their disappointed fans something to cheer about in their last home match. Jamshedpur FC will have to win the match if they are to keep their hopes for qualifying for the playoffs alive.

Chennaiyin FC

The reigning Champions, Chennayin FC have had a miserable season so far and are at the bottom of the table with just 8 points to their name. But the Marina Machans will want to finish the season on a higher note by at least winning their remaining two matches. John Gregory’s boys have to play in the Champions Cup in March this year. Gregory Nelson is under suspension and it will be up to Raphael Agusto, and Jeje Lapekhlua along with CK Vineet to pierce the Jamshedpur FC defence. CK Vineet is one of their newer recruits along with Halicharan Nazary and both of them haven’t scored for their side so far.

Jamshedpur FC

Ceasar Ferrando’s team will need to win the two matches that they have left and then await the results of the matches that Mumbai City and North East Utd play in if they are to qualify for the semi-finals. They are placed fifth on the table with 23 points from 16 matches and are 4 points behind the fourth-placed Mumbai City. With Michael Soosairaj returning to the team after an injury ay off Ferrando will be hoping to see some good passing football that will overwhelm their hosts. Along with Carlos Calvo on the right wing, Soosairaj will be hoping to assist Farukh Choudhary and Sergio Cidoncha to score the goals. Tim Cahill is injured and will not take the field.

Head to head

The two teams have only met twice in the ISL as Jamshedpur was listed in the ISL only last season. Both the teams have won a match each while one match ended in a draw. Jamshedpur overcame Chennaiyin three months back when the team from South India when visiting the steel city.

Current form of the two teams

Chennaiyin FC has only one win to show for their troubles in their last six matches. They have lost their remaining matches the last one being a 0-3 loss to Kerala Blasters FC. Jamshedpur has won two of their last six matches, drawn two and lost two. They are also going into the game after a massive 1-4 loss to Pune City FC in their home game.

Prediction

Jamshedpur FC needs to win this game dearly and Cesar Ferrando will expect his boys to go on the offensive from the word go. With a little bit of creativity, they will be able to overcome the Chennaiyin FC defenders. I would place my bet in favour of Jamshedpur FC winning this game.

Score: Chennaiyin FC 0-1 Jamshedpur FC
