Michael, we put $100 in your account
Last night, I received an email from a website I used to use to play poker on. After I won a few dollars from a freeroll poker tournament, I would occassionaly place a small bet. I had not visited this website for at least a year, but it's hard to resist an offer for "free money," although I know that there are strings attached and nothing at all is "free."
I was granted a $100 free play, which means I could bet $100 on an event, and then, if I win the bet, can continue to play with those "winnings." The catch is that even if I turn this one bet into a solid chunk of change, I will be required at some point to deposit $50 into my account (because nothing is truly free).
"Why not?" I asked myself. I looked over the games and I made my choice. I decided to put the $100 free play on the Washington Nationals to win (-227) against the lowly Florida Marlins. They won 4-2 with Strasburg on the mound, and I was credited $44.05. So I decided to set an extremely high and difficult goal for myself. Why not try to turn this $44.05 into $1,000? Is it likely? Not at all, but that hasn't stopped me before.
I will track my progress, listen to your suggestions, and share my bets with you all.

- (9/19) Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins (Over 9). $2.05 to win $1.86
- With two young pitchers starting, I thought this would be high scoring. I got lucky with the Tigers scoring two run in the 9th. The final was 8-2, and I won the bet.
- (9/20 - Parlay) New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns. I have the Jets to win outright and the game to go over 39 points. $5 to win $18.39.
- (9/19) Cleveland Indians vs. Chicago White Sox (Indians -1.5 runs). $1.91 to win $1.12.
I plan to bet heavily on Saturday's college football games with both straight bets and parlays, so make sure to check back in with me later in the week.
