Had a bit of a disappointing start to the season for my picks for week 1.  I went 1-3 in games I liked as a bet.  Time to see if I can improve with this weeks picks.

First game I like this week has the Steelers hosting the Chiefs.  Steelers favored by -5.  The Chiefs offense looked amazing last week but they were actually out-gained by the Chargers in that game.  This week they face a Steelers team with one of the best, if not the best receiver in the league.  Not to mention the Steelers have owned this club in recent memory.  I think that trend continues here.  The Chiefs looked too good to be true and I expect the public to hammer them come tomorrow morning and this spread will likely decrease to Steelers -3.5 or maybe even -3.  There's also a trend that shows teams opening the season with 2 road games are 0-12 ATS in the second game over the last 3 years.  Play the Steelers -5.

Next game, Eagles travelling to Tampa to take on the Bucs.  Eagles favored by -3.  This is another spot where the public is very likely to over-react to a week 1 result.  The Bucs played awesome last week in New Orleans and put up 48 points en route to a win.  The problem is they gave up 40 points of their own and are down a few defenders this week.  They're playing the defending super bowl champs, are starting a backup QB, and are down some defenders in an already weak secondary.  Not to mention the Eagles have had a few extra days to prepare for this game.  This line is way too low.  Play Eagles -3.

Sunday Night Football.  Cowboys hosting the Giants.  Cowboys favored by -3.  I expect the Giants to come out and win this game outright.  The Cowboys offense looked terrible last week while the Giants showed some signs off life against a suffocating Jaguar defense.  The Giants lost both games to the Cowboys last season and I expect them to come out ready to go against this division rival.  Eli Manning is 12-3 ATS in division games coming off a loss and this year he has weapons around him unlike last year when everyone was injured.  Play the Giants +3.

Monday Night Football.  Bears hosting the Seahawks.  Bears favored by -3.  The Seahawks just gave up 6 sacks in week 1 in Denver and now have to face a defense that sacked Aaron Rodgers 4 times and nearly knocked him out for the year.  I expect Russell Wilson to spend most of the night running for his life behind Seattles weak offensive line and he won't get much help from their poor running game and the fact that Doug Baldwin is out.  The Bears offense does worry me a little but if they're forcing Seattle off the field after a few plays the offense should have enough opportunities to score some points.  This game also falls into that category of a team playing 2 road games to start the season, teams in this spot are 0-12 over the last 3 years.  Play Bears -3.

Those are my picks for this week.  Steelers, Eagles, Giants, and Bears.  Good luck!
