I have already told you in the previous post, how the Indian cricket board became richest in the cricket world. How it becomes big boss of international cricket. How players who got only 100$ in 1994 for a match, now getting 5720$. I have illustrated all white side method in that post.
Now Today, I am showing you how the Indian board did some black task or earn money by the dark side. Though it does not mean that the whole board is corrupt. Board did some good task as well as bad task.
Before, you should know what is BCCI?
BCCI is Board of control for cricket in India. BCCI was established in 1928. It was registered according to Tamilnadu Society Registration Act. Thus it is clear that BCCI is a Society. The one most important fact which may astonish you, BCCI is registered as a Charitable Society. The term charitable change many law of taxes for any country. The reasons given at that time to register this as a charitable society was very good. They said that they will find new talent from the whole country and give them chance and make future bright in sports for India. Yes, that is true today whenever we talk about cricket, the name India comes on top.
In the year of 2018, a person asked in RTI that how much taxes yet BCCI have to pay. The response came that, 8.6 Billion INR or $122.8 Million tax has not been yet paid by BCCI. In 2013, the Income tax department of India issued a notice about income tax to BCCI. Perhaps you can not imagine tax amount of that notice. Total 23 Billion INR or $ 328.5 Million amount mentioned in the notice to pay as tax.
Income tax department clearly said that they can not accept BCCI as a Charitable society at that time, when they are running events like IPL. Currently, if you check on their website you found that BCCI has paid a lot of taxes. Now you think when they have paid that balance then why it is the dark side.
Actually, BCCI is paying taxes, but these payments under protest. It means BCCI will try to save his money by law and court.
In 2013, Delhi Police arrested 3 players of IPL team Rajasthan Royal in fixing. After that investigation started by police. Police find the connection of fixing to Gurunath Mayappan. Gurunath Mayappan is the husband of the daughter of N. Srinivasan. N. Srinivasan was president of BCCI at that time.
More secrets revealed in that investigation. Also, it came into light that N.Srinivasan is the owner of India Cement company. India cement is the owner of IPL team Chennai Super Kings. After that connection also reached to Rajasthan Royals team owner and promoter Shilpa Shetty`s husband Raj Kundra.
After that Mumbai High court, started case hearing. According to Mumbai High court, the matter was serious and they can not give any kind of relax to any accused person. Then BCCI directly reached the Supreme court of India. The Supreme court of India created a committee name Mudgal committee. Mudgal committee told to replace N. Srinivasan from BCCI president. Because he was generating trouble in the investigation.
In 2015, Supreme court create Lodha Committee. At that time BCCI president was Dalmia. There were three people on that committee. All three persons are retired judges of the supreme court. Head of that committee was an Ex-chief justice of Supreme Court of India whose name is Lodha. Three task was given for that committee-
1. What punishment should be given to Raj Kundra and Gurunath?
2. Investigate the Chief operating officers of IPL at that time.
3. How to protect BCCI from this kind of threat in future.
Lodha committee submit their report -
Gurunath and Raj Kundra were banned for a lifetime from participating any kind cricket event.
IPL team Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were banned for two years from IPL.
Now in BCCI, only 5 people were elected as the head. They all were elected for only 3 years. None of the person elected again on that member. Also, the board president must not interfere with the selection of the team. Also, BCCI must have to publish his all earning and expenditure on the website. Also, cricket should be run by cricketers.
Cricket board did not want to agree with this kind of rules. At that time board president was Anurag Thakur. Anurag Thakur stuck to his point. At last, Supreme court terminate him from BCCI president.
After that court, created 4 people group which was called as COA. Till now that COA is running the BCCI. But in COA, all thing was not well. One of the members gave resign and raise many questions-
