It is england first test series win after 17 years on Sri Lanka soil. Before this they last win in the year of 2001 and now 2018. With the 3 match series england are having a 2-0 lead and now they are ready to clean swip the series against Sri Lanka.
Beside this it is first test defeat as captian for Sri Lanka suranga lakmal. It is first test series win for Joe Root as england captian.
In the second test match of 1 St innings Sri Lanka were leading by 46 runs then also they suffer a loss by 57 runs and england lead the series. England were all out for 290 runs. Rory burns and keaton Jennings opened the innings for england but Keaton Jennings got out for scoring just 1 runs on the bowling of lakmal. Rory burns played a innings of 43 runs. Beside this jos buttler and Sam Curran scored a brilliant half century and have a 290 scores on the board.
In the first innings dilruman perera took 4 wickets and pushpakumara takes 3 wickets. Spinners totally take 9 wickets of England batsman.
Sri Lanka started their first innings by loosing early wickets of kaushal Silva and pushpakumara at 30 runs at the board. But, Dimuth Karunaratne and Dhananjaya de Silva give some hope by adding 100 runs and no proper batsman scored a runs for srilanka.
Dimuth karunaratne was run out on the score of 63 runs by Ben Stokes. Roshen Silva played a great innings of 85 runs which give Sri Lanka a lead of 46 runs with the contribution from the dickwella (25 runs) and Dananjaya (31 runs). So, Sri Lanka finished their first innings at 336 runs.
After trailing by 46 runs england started their second innings by opening jack leach and Rory burns. With the help of skipper 124 runs knock, Joe root appoint as man of the match and also he had given a decent total to win the match for Sri Lanka.
Joe root had taken 1 wicket in the 1st innings and also scored 14 runs and done a good captaincy by leaving broad and include one extra spinner which helped them to win the match and also lead the series by 2-0.
England scored 346 runs in the second innings with the help of Joe root, Rory Burns and foakes. Dananjaya took a 6 wicket to restrict england under 400 runs. England give a target of 301 runs for sri Lanka but once again Sri Lankan top order didn't scored a runs and so now pressure was on the middle order batsman. Mathews and karunaratne give some hope and come back in the team with some winning hope.
But it was no luck for Sri Lanka as they bundled for 243 runs and so, england won the match by 57 runs.
Jack leach who took 3 wickets in first innings and 5 wickets in second innings which give team england a easy victory. Overall, spinners were doing great job for england as well as for srilanka by picking 38 wickets. The pitch was looking for spin and so spinners had done a great job. Let's see what happen in the 3rd and final match of the test series but england had won the series and are having a 2-0 lead.
