I think only a few people here have heard about Everest Premier League(EPL). It’s not as popular as IPL and some other leagues, but it’s the best platform for emerging talents. Its popularity is increasing faster in recent time. EPL is Twenty20 cricket tournament in the country of Mount Everest Nepal. This tournament is run by the Private group in Nepal to help in the development of cricket.
EPL first ever edition was organized in September 2016 with six franchise consisting national and international players. EPL is the most famous cricket tournament in Nepal. EPL is based on Round Robin League and Knockout. Until now two EPL tournaments are successfully completed. Panchakanya Tej eas successful to win the first ever EPL. In the Second Edition of EPL, Biratnagar Warriors won the tournament.
Teams in EPL
There are six teams in EPL, all of them have 15 men squad. They must include at least three foreign players. At first, all of these team bought 10 players each from the auction. Then these teams also organized a talent hunt program in different cities, from where many young talents were given a chance to play in EPL.

In the first and second edition of EPL different teams have reached the final. In the first edition, Panchakanya Tej defeated Color X-Factors by 40 runs in the final. And in the second edition final match, Biratnagar Warriors defeated Bahiwahawa Gladiators by a small margin of 1 run. In this two edition, Basant Regmi has taken 20 wickets, which is the most wickets taken in EPL. Paras Khadka have made highest runs in EPL, i.e. 357 runs.
Every team in EPL need to include at least three players in their team, so some best players from associate nations and India, Pakistan too played in a first and second edition of EPL. The third edition is going to start in September of 2018. This edition of EPL is going to be more interesting with some big players like Barbar Hayat, Sikandar Raza, Rohan Mustafa and some other international players.Due to the huge crowd supporting their teams, many international players (especially players from associate nations) want to play in EPL. It’s going to be the best cricket tournament in the Associate Nations soon. In the previous edition some young talents who were able to show their talents in EPL. I hope this year also we will see some young talents and more international players.
