In each generation of the video game industry, there will always appear a title that is going to revolutionize or at least change the perspective that people have of video games, the reasons can be many, such as their playability, music, graphics, their plot or possibly the union of all these aspects. Over the years there are many games that comply with these aspects and have been placed on the lists of the best games of both their time, with lists of the best video games in history. The game I'm going to talk about below largely complies with everything I mentioned earlier as it was a big change to everything that was known about this industry and it is a game that served as great inspiration to others who are likewise catalogued as cult games by the industry and its fans. I have to say that I played this title several years after its release, just about 8 years ago, but the experience that left me this excellent game is something that few have done.
Today's Retro Review is about: Another World
Another World puts us in the shoes of Lester, a young scientist who, after working on an experiment in which he tried to recreate the famous big bag phenomenon, is surprised by a ray that impacts his creation, generating in such a way a portal that transports him to another universe. Already inside this new world, problems will not take long to appear, since the strange civilization of this distant place imprisons him together with other inhabitants of this dimension, but our protagonist inside the prison becomes a friend of this inhabitant in such a way that together they plan to free themselves and in some way escape from that so strange dimension in which they find themselves.
Another World is a game of patience and it focuses a lot on giving us a much more cinematic experience than playable, so this change in the gameplay of a game, I represent a pretty big change in the industry, and because of this makes it a more serious and mature game, so it was good of me to have played it when I was older, because possibly if I had played it as a child, I would not have enjoyed it enough and I would have been frustrated by its type of playability, but that is an aspect that I will talk about later.
Another World presents a very particular and original graphic style, and therefore something that had not been seen in the games of that time, for this reason I represent a big change in all the graphic aspect that already had us accustomed the industry. Another World more than a game is a visual experience with a lot of inspiration in movies/science fiction series, where its main argument is focused on a world of very different characteristics to those that can be seen on planet earth, that is, an atmosphere that just by seeing it, we automatically realize that we are not in place of origin, and that we are in a world and / or universe totally different from ours.
At graphic level was one of the best of its time and very different to everything, a game that to the surprise of many, was developed by a single person, Eric Chani, is the creator of this spectacular game, which even today speaks for what it meant and for how revolutionary was his work in a video game industry that was always accustomed to the same.
Another World is a 2D game, but many of its cinematics are in 3D, which gives it that touch of resembling an interactive movie, plus the gameplay that is "sequential", to a certain extent, further increases the effect of "sequence" and the cinematic aspect that can be seen in it.
The first moment we are playing Another World we will automatically realize that this is a game focused on an adult audience, is a mature game and can be noticed in the way it tells the story that unfolds around our protagonist, its gameplay and its environment, therefore, find melodies according to the above is completely normal. Another World has a soundtrack that fits perfectly with all its atmosphere and with the atmosphere that creates in each of the scenarios that has this strange planet where our protagonist is, melodies fit perfectly with the moments of action, mystery and suspense that has this game to offer, in addition to this, the sound effects to also have a high sound level, create an appropriate atmosphere and greater immersion in the adventure that we are witnessing.

As I said at the beginning, this game represented a big change in everything we already knew about video games at that time. Another World has a gameplay similar to a graphic adventure, but it was much more like a game sequence where we have to control our protagonist through a lot of scenarios, always in order to keep him safe despite the large number of enemies that we will find in them.
Another World mixes the genres of platforms, puzzles and graphic adventures, creating in such a way, a game that more than a game, is a visual experience that few games have the ability to recreate, but this game presents many challenges both mental and precision, and we will die many times trying to escape from some enemy or trying to find the way out to some place, ie, Another World is a game that in most cases is "trial and error", that's why at the beginning I mentioned that it was good that I didn't play this title in my childhood, because maybe I couldn't have enjoyed it because it's a game that must be played calmly and it's also a game that must be watched and admired its entire environment, and this is something that surely as a child would have frustrated me.
Another World, I think I've said enough about this game to classify it as one of the best video games in history, a video game that inspired others that are considered cult games and also the best games in history, and to have such a great achievement is something that few video games are happy to achieve.
