So for some reason i couldn't sleep last night and after a few hours of laying down staring at the ceiling i decided to get up and do something productive. Sometimes this can be the best time to be awake as you find a burst of productivity when the world is at rest. One thing is for sure, i have been rewarded for getting up as the brand new episode of MX World has dropped haha! :)
So in this weeks episode we get to see how truly diverse the MXGP world tour can be and how far the reach of the sport has become. This is truly a world championship and now with the GP's extending to China and Thailand its fan base is shooting up. The sport really can take an unknown rider, from a poor community and no hope to the very top of the sport and all that comes with it. Most of the stars of MXGP motocross today come from very humble beginnings and if they had not put the hard work in and not sacrificed what most would not be prepared to do they would be a nobody. To quote Cairoli himself when he was speaking to his mother as he was unsure if he was going to be able to compete at this level, she replied "Fight through it... Or deliver pizzas". haha tough love but sometimes that is what sets them apart, no sugar coating... just cold truth.
We get to see the pressures that are put upon being a stars son when you have to follow in your fathers star studded footsteps and what is expected of you. A lot of the superstars of today are at the level they are due to very tough and strict training schedules and you can see some of the pain in their eyes when they talk about it. Some of those years were not good ones and some simply do not want to talk about it. These are the years that form the determination to fight and to win though i believe and without it I'm not sure that they would be in the same place today.
So check it out guys, there is all this and more in one of the most enjoyable series i have seen in a long time, this one really is a cracker :)
If you missed the first episode in the series you can check out my post here.
MX World - Season 1 - Episode 2 - A Family Affair
Dean Wilson to ride AUS-X
You have to give it up for Wilson right now. He lost his factory ride and you can't blame Husqvarna for having to let him go with back to back 250 Supercross champion Zach Osborne making the transition up to the premier class. As harsh as it sounds, any team in the same position would have made the same choice.
With that said Wilson has hit the floor running and is staying up beat and positive about it and doing his upmost to heat up his media coverage and get the message out there he is ready and available. His heart and head are all in the right place and i would be very surprised if he is not snapped up soon.
As some of you might remember Justin Barcia withdrew from the AUS-X event shortly after Americas disastrous MXoN event at Redbud. There was an air of mystery about the choice but it has been revealed that Barcia will go under the knife for Lasik surgery so will be unable to compete now. There is always a silver lining though and it seems that it has been picked up by Wison and he has confirmed he will now ride the event.
This is great for AUS-X and Supercross fans because Wilson put on an epic show last year and won the SX1 class at the event over his then team mate Jason Anderson.
I wish Wilson the greatest luck ahead of his new challenge and if he does well again i think the phone will start to ring.
