I will do a weekly update on World Records.

Today, I want to introduce you to Luke Aikins.

Many people don’t know this guy but he is the first person to jump out of an airplane without a parachute from a 25.000Feet or 7600m. He eventually lands in a net.

This stunt is now in the Guinness Book of World Records as the first complete planned jump from an airplane without a parachute.

His ‘ haven Sent’ stunt was extremely dangerous. The 42 American, at the time of jumping, was 42 years old had only a GPS with him in order to survive the jump.

During the record-breaking jump, Luke travelled with three other professional skydivers who were there to collect his discarded oxygen tank after 10,000 ft and trail smoke so that viewers on the ground could follow his progress. However, they all released parachutes at 5,000 ft.

Some numbers:

• Speed: almost 200 km/h or mph

• Net: 10 square foot or 30 meters

• Jump time: 2 minutes

• Preparation time: 18 months

• Experience: 18.000 skydives in his life, started at 12 years old

Following the jump, Luke said: "I'm almost levitating, it's incredible. The thing that just happened. The words I want to say I can't even get out of my mouth.”

Last but not least: this guy is experienced airplane and helicopter pilot and did stunts in the movie Iron Man 3.
