Sport fans in the city of Uyo came around to witness the first training session of the Eagles ahead of their Afcon Qualification match against Libya on Saturday.

The training session as was reported by the media officer of the Super Eagles was to commence at 17:00 GMT but the Eagles didn't turn up and after waiting for over an hour the fans started dismissing one by one with no smile on their faces.

My Expectations Was Dashed

With the joy I had since yesterday when the first set of Super Eagles players landed Uyo safely, and my ears were itching to hear when others will land so my hand was on the radio set, running from one station to the other to stay update as each player reports to camp.

Super Eagles players at the Ibom International Airport

At about 15:00 GMT 16 players was reported to be in camp against 2 yesterday.

I cancelled all the appointment I had, applied for permission to watch the Eagle's first training session in which the manager approved, my joy got a boost and I left for the Nest of Champions at about 15:45 GMT keeping in mind that it will take me almost an hour to get to the stadium.

But after waiting for over an hour, I slowly return home with no good news to tell.

Why Disappointed?

The manager has got this understanding about my passion for football but at this point the organizational rules supersede my passion. So I won't be allowed to take permission again in two consecutive days.

Like the game of football either you win or lose it's part of the game. So

today was one of those unlucky days and I'm not so happy about it.

What Kept Me Busy While Waiting

While still waiting hoping that the first mission doesn't fail.

I had enough time to go around the stadium and appreciate the stadium facilities from natural pitch which was still being watered be the time we went there.

The Historical Plaque

The beauty of this plaque is that an Akwa Ibom son scored the first goal on the Nest of Champions.

The Stadium Renaming Plaque

This was done in honour of governor Godswill Obot Akpabio who's tenure gave birth to this stadium and also watch it grow.
