$292 Million was spent by Chelsea and manager Frank Lampard this summer on reinforcements for the squad. Still, at the time of writing, the club is in a disappointing eighth place and has been playing poorly for some time. Most recently, the club lost 2-0 to Leicester. It has caused rumors questioning Lampard's job. The manager has not managed to meet the high expectations that were for the expensive squad, and now Chelsea's owner, Roman Abramovich, is reportedly looking for a new manager.

According to the English media Express Sport, Abramovich has cut his "wish list" down to two coaches he will have to take over if Lampard were to be fired at Chelsea.

The choice is reportedly between German Thomas Tuchel, who was fired at PSG shortly before the turn of the year, and compatriot Julian Nagelsmann, who is the coach of the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.

Leipzig, who are currently in second place in the Bundesliga, should have reportedly informed Chelsea that they will not let Nagelsmann go halfway through the season. Nagelsmann took over at RB Leipzig in 2019 and took the club to a Champions League semi-final in his first season at the helm.

Thomas Tuchel managed to be the coach of PSG for two and a half years, where he, among other things, got PSG in the club's first Champions League final ever this summer. Internal strife with management cost him the job around Christmas last year.
