Enough hurtful comments has been pouring over the internet and physical interactions ever since the elimination of both Manchester United and Juventus by Barcelona and Ajax respectively.

Some blame Manchester United's David De Gea for being such a dunce with the ball thereby allowing Barcelona take a clear lead in aggregate, some blame Ashley Young for being so poor with his decisions and allowing Lionel Messi rip his team apart from his wing, some mock Ronaldo for failing to lift the Uefa Champions league with Juventus despite claiming to achieve that feat which has eluded them for so long at the beginning of the season and so on.

These apportioning of blames and critics, not that they are not important for growth, but they are utterly superfluous considering the situation. I suppose more of the shout outs should be going to Barcelona and Ajax especially the Dutch team who have left every football lover stunned with their feat in European football this season.

Barcelona

Spain has known a leader and conqueror for the past decade and that has without doubt being Barcelona. At one time they lose their sceptre, they would immediately launch an attack and regain it in no time, they are very much the formidable team in Spain and deservedly so.

Barcelona under Ernesto Valverde has created an uninteresting but focused Barcelona. They are no longer the Barcelona that wows fans with tiki-taka style of football mainly down to the fact they are without the orchestrators of that very style of play and Ernesto has done well to change their pattern of play which is down to the most important thing in football, WINNING.

By hook, crook, luck or whatever you call it, Barcelona will end up on the winning side and this was the case against Manchester United. An own goal from Manchester United's Luke Shaw handed Barcelona a first leg advantage and more composed psychologically heading into the second leg unlike their opponent.

Ajax

50 years it is since Ajax last won the European trophy and 21 years since they last reached a semi final and coincidentally, they were knocked out by Juventus the last time they reached that stage.

Ajax appear rejuvenated and electrifying this season. They eliminated depending champions Real Madrid easily and I for one never knew they could play football so well, maybe be cause I do not watch the Eredivisie but make no mistake in neglecting the tension that follows the UCL anthem, one these Dutch boys seem to enjoy.

Ajax possesses a team of young talents brimming with inexplicable desire and energy to achieve their aim. Against Real Madrid, they tore the defence time without number and scored awesome goals. Against the Old Ladies of Turin, they conceived first both in the first and second leg but acted like nothing was against them, they continued play like the scores were level and before the end of 90 minutes, Ajax would create nothing less than 15 chances throughout the match, how many giant teams can match that?

Conclusion

Ahsley Young's mistake allowing Messi to get ahold of the ball, David De Gea's howler and Allegri's negative tactics might have played huge parts in sending both teams parking from the competition but they were simply up against better teams. So, give them a break.
