There is but one team that unexpectedly shocked the footballing world in this soon to be completed season with disappointing performances for large chunk of the season and that team is Real Madrid.

Coming into the season without talisman and club's highest goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo, without the man that brought immeasurable success to them both as player and coach,, as defending Champions of the Uefa Champions League, a trophy they have won for the past three consecutive seasons and four times in five years and a formidable team, they still looked posed to defend their trophy if not for anything but for the name, Real Madrid.

Fast forward to March in just one season, the team has been managed by three different coaches, their season ended in terms of no chance of winning any trophy at all and then, questions surrounding players who were part and parcel of the good, old, past seasons.

The third coach to take over the reigns at the team was former coach Zinedine Zidane, his résumé as coach is there on the internet in case you are dearth in knowledge of who he is.

Zidane came back with one apparent mission, "REBUILDING". It was reported he left at the end of last season because he has envisioned a team lacking in the ability to win again and wanted to handle the transfers but the President had other plans, hence his submission of his resignation letter.

Three consecutive seasons of success was followed with an utterly disappointing season and we all can see why it was necessary Zidane who knew the team well should have been given what he wanted and we get to rejoice again this season.

However, Zidane has returned and hopefully, he has been handed the transfer authority and as well, a reported sum of €500,000. With a team packed with experienced Veterans past 30 years, the law of football states that you begin your journey towards retirement from 30 years. What this means is that players like Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Marcelo, Karim Benzema, all who are above 30 and played a pivotal part in the successes the team has gained in the past years all deserve rests as there are not growing any younger.

The terrible dip in form of Real Madrid's main men were down to so many factors but one thing was certain, they won't play at the top forever, age would someday, catch up with them. In view of this, younger, confident, experienced and energetic players are needed to help give them the rest they deserve. It is clear as crystal that the Real Madrid team needs an overhaul and that is clearly what is going to happen this summer and it has already started.

Real Madrid already signed two players in Rodrygo from Santos and Militao from F.C. Porto, both winger and central defender respectively. Eden Hazard is reported to be arriving the team soon and that is where the problem of this hugely talked about evolution comes in.

The signing of Militao is a great one as Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos clearly needs a quality replacement as the treatment table seem to love Jesus Vallejo more than the pitch and Nacho Fernandez isn't sharp and experienced as the aforementioned duo but all respects to him, he isn't a pure central back, just a versatile defender.

Rodrygo's signing, Hazard's signing, James Rodriguez and Martin Odegaard's call backs would mean the team is stacked with attacking midfielders and wingers. One wing and attacking midfield position would have about 5-6 players contesting for it and that is very unlikely to happen, which definitely means some players would be leaving so as to free up space for the new players.

The question now on the lips of everyone is, who gets to leave the team this summer? It is going to be real interesting following Real Madrid's news this summer for there would definitely be so many to be talked about as the team prepare for a better season next.
