First Monday fixture for Real Madrid in three years will see them travel to Butarque to face a Leganese side difficult to break at home.
Both teams will be meeting for fourth time this season and the eighth since last season after playing each other out in the two legged Copa Del Rey fixtures and the league fixtures.
With Barcelona drawing away to Huesca, Atletico Madrid winning, Real Madrid's aim might just get beyond overthroning Atletico Madrid for second position.
Leganese are having a wonderful season and have been excellent at home. Their last three matches has seen them pick up 7 points out of a possible 9. The second leg Copa Del Rey tie at their turf this season against Real Madrid saw them pick up a win last season and this season as well. They have also beaten Barcelona and held Atletico Madrid on that favorite turf of theirs which is appearing to be something like a minefield for top teams.
Real Madrid on the other hand are looking like a team eager to get this season over with considering their display in their last few matches and also, coach Zinedine Zidane's apparent experiments with his team formation and line ups.
They have been guaranteed Champions League competition next season but appears to have given up hope of catching up with leaders Barcelona despite the happening been mathematically possible. According to my understanding, their focus appears to be on Atletico Madrid on second position. However, with Barcelona losing two points today, thoughts and focus on the Champions League, losing the grip on the league title appears inevitable.
Conclusion
The return of Zidane to Real Madrid hasn't had much positive effect considering their performances in the past three matches he has overseen and the manager appeared to have stepped hurtfully on the morale of his players, especially those linked with an exit by saying that "the outcomes of the remaining games of the season won't really have an effect on the team's state come summer break" which to my own understanding is pointing towards a summer overhaul of the squad.
Leganese have had just 2 home defeats all season and only three teams bettered that feat which is making this match all the more difficult for Real Madrid to win but Los Blancos have enough quality to beat Leganese in style if they are focused enough.
