I wish to start this piece with a formal introduction of myself as a sportsman in a world of sport. I am a die-hard fan of Real Madrid even though I have not done anything concrete to prove that other than blog about them, I still strongly harbour the hope that someday, Real Madrid football club will look into Scorum and count Austino as one of their voice on the platform.

I wish one would hear the cry in my heart from these words I am typing for IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN.

We all thought it was a joke but it has become official that Real Madrid has sold Marcos Llorente. Yes, you read right, the oh-so-promising Marcos has been sold and let me shock you with his next destination, the Wanda Metropolitano, home to their cross town rivals, Atletico Madrid. How on earth did this happen?

Llorente who was tipped to be the next Claude Makelele of Real Madrid, a worthy back up for Casemiro and that man that stood tall and gave his all for Alaves thereby taking them to heights they have never attained since their inception as a club.

Marcos Llorente who is the only worthy backup defensive midfielder in the team has left, and to a man, Diego Simeone who is sure to bring out the best in him and most importantly, show that best against the brothers that sold him off.

This was the same case with Alvaro Morato who was sold to Juventus and then he cost Real Madrid a successive Uefa Champions League final after scoring two goals against his former team in both legs of the semi finals.

James Rodriguez almost cost Real Madrid another Uefa Champions League title had luck not smiled upon the whites. Jese Rodriguez cost Real Madrid the three points in his encounter against the former team and several other examples which just shows the terrible disadvantages in letting your important players go and worst of all, to your closest rivals.

It is true that players can be sold, an overhaul is needed in the team and players had to be sold but what I do not understand is why it had to be 24 year old Marcos Llorente that opened the exit door. If Csemiro become unavailable sometime into the season, there is no pure replacement for him and Real Madrid do not look like a team that is going to be buying defensive midfielders this summer.

This leaves me and several Real Madrid fans in a worrisome situation because it is very likely we will be left to rue the day we sold off Marcos to Atletico Madrid. If there is anything that has ruined the sweet vibes gotten from this summer transfer window with Real Madrid, it is this sale. Let’s see how it goes.
