Coming into this match from the back of a copa del rey elimination, Zidane witnessed his players show power and grit to get back to winning ways.

Matches like this define Real Madrid's domestic performance every season and in recent seasons past, you find them either drawing or losing such games.

Against Osasuna, a resilient team at home, Zidane welcomed back Raphael Varane, Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy in defense.

Toni Kroos was left out as Casemiro, Luka Modric, Fede Valverde and Isco filled the midfield roles while Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema forwarded the attack.

Within the first 15 minutes, it looked like Real Madrid would be suffering another defeat after Unai Garcia put Osasuna in front with just 14 minutes played following a sloppy defending from Real Madrid on an Osasuna set piece.

That goal turned out to spark a certain light in the league leaders as Karim Benzema hit the post and Sergio Ramos headed over the bar in the next 15 minutes.

Osasuna's lead was not to last for the entirety of the first half however as Isco Alarcon ended his nine month La Liga drought with a superb effort to draw Real Madrid level.

Just before half time, Sergio Ramos headed Real Madrid ahead to turn the match on its head.

The second half witnessed Real Madrid dominate much of the proceedings but Osasuna held their fort pretty well until Zidane tweaked his formation and introduced his plan B. Lucas Vasquez came on for Gareth Bale, Vinicius for Isco and Jovic for Benzema. The first and last substitution would go on to finish the match with two excellent finishes especially from Jovic who confidently smashed a left footed effort at the top right hand corner of the post.

It is 15 wins, 7 draws and 1 loss for Real Madrid this season as they continue their quest to wrestle La Liga dominance away from Barcelona.
