After failing to win four matches under 90 minutes, Zinedine Zidane’s men got that very important win last night against Turkish club Fernabache but it wasn’t an impressive one to be honest.

Real Madrid managed to see off Fernabache in the second half with Benzema scoring a hat-trick while Nacho and Mariano Diaz made it a total of five goals from the Spanish giants but at the end, 5-3 was the final score meaning they(Real Madrid) conceived another three goals.

If there is one thing that has been criticized of the Real Madrid team throughout their pre season campaign, it is their inability to organize their defence which has seen them lose three out of four matches and drew two, conceiving a total of 13 goals in the build up to last night’s encounter. Addition of the three goals they conceived yesterday takes it to a total of 16 goals in five games averaging 3.2 goals per game which is very absurd, unimpressive and unacceptable for a team of their calibre.

In all those losses which came at the hands of Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid(in humiliating fashion) and Tottenham, Real Madrid have played with their complete squad or rather, Coach Zinedine Zidane has had the luxury of sending out his favourite squad only to go get beaten and humiliated with no sort of retaliation worthy of note and confidence.

Truthfully, the team has not been all blunt in the other end of the pitch, they have been creating chances but are unfortunate to have a Karim Benzema putting on his wasteful boots up until yesterday’s encounter.

New signing Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Kubo have all showed promising signs but are lacking the adequate spark needed in throwing the killer punch, one which is most likely to surface before every 90 minutes exhausts if not for the demoralizing goals their defence conceives.

Their first loss against Bayern Munich is justifiable in the sense that it was their first match together in a long while and their second loss against Atletico Madrid in which they were fiercely ran at by the Rojiblancos team from the very first minute and ended up being humiliated can be excused a bit except the fact that they had to conceive a total of 7 goals in one match while the final 1-0 loss against Tottenham would have been more than just a 1-0 loss if not for the heroic saves of Costa Rican goal keeper Keylor Navas who fought to leave it at just a goal while the offence was lacking in ideas on how to equalize or win the match.

Yesterday’s win against Fernabache came with its own criticism as to why Real Madrid’s defence has remained this vulnerable despite all of them playing at a high level for many years but this will be a topic for another day.
