Alcoyano tasted the painful fangs of revenge and defeat as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to an apparently stronger side, Real Madrid.

In this same round of 32 of the Copa Del Rey last season, Alcoyano eliminated Real Madrid from the competition. Then coach Zinedine Zidane without doubt underrated these boys and he got served what he deserved, although the Real Madrid players were lacking hunger and strength in the encounter.

This time around however, Ancelotti made sure his players bear the "once bitten, twice shy" mantra in mind as they fought from the very beginning to the end.

Alcoyano, not minding their lower status do not play like a lower division team. They attack and defend with so much class that they caused troubles for Real Madrid all night long. I must confess it was not an easy night for Real Madrid even if the scoreboard is proving otherwise.

They ran Real Madrid dry from start to finish and it took a header by Militao from a corner kick on the brink of half time to put Real Madrid ahead.

The second half will see Alcoyano rally for a comeback and in the 66th minute, their resilience was rewarded as Dani Vega cut himself free from Marcelo and Casemiro before unleashing a left footed curling shot that went past the Real Madrid goalie.

Ancelotti will be glad that he had the magical Asensio available to bail him out with his magical goals. Not long after his cameo, he played a left footed shot that deflected off an Alcoyano player and past the goalie to take Real Madrid ahead. Isco will help extend Real Madrid's lead two minutes later as he latched onto a pass which was unfortunately for Alcoyano sent into their net by their goalie.

That third goal demoralized Alcoyano and Real Madrid will quietly saw off the encounter from there.
