You do not know how it feels to win until you have won. For Paok, it was like a moment of truth and freedom for them after the league title has eluded them for the past 34 years.

Levadiakos FC was the culprit last night, Paok needed a win to secure the league title as theirs with one more game left to play and they expertly and tirelessly rode past Levadiakos from the very first minute of the game.

Yevhen Shakhv scored twice for the host while Fernando Varela, Diego Biseswar who scored the second goal in the 8th minute from the penalty spot and Karol Swiderski completed the rout.

That win took them five points off second place Olympiacos with one game to spare and the club and fans couldn't hold it back in, their joy knew no bound.

Paok has won the Greek league twice, first in 1976 and the second in 1985 before waiting for more than three decades to get their third.

It is reported superfluous sacking of coaches and the inability to bring in quality players made Paok uncompetitive. Russian-Greece business tycoon Ivan Savvidis whose investments in the team is one of the key reasons they are champions today was also responsible for them losing out on the league title to eventual winners AEK Athens closely last season after he stormed on the pitch close to the end of the game with a gun suspected to be in his holster. That not withstanding, Paok fought well again this season and became another team aside Larissa to break the Greek recycling dominance of Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and AEK Athens.
