Surnamed "The Hero of Seville", Helmuth Robert Duckadam is a Romanian retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper and in the present he is the president of FCSB.

Born in Arad County, Duckadam started to play football in the regional leagues, before moving to FC UTA Arad in 1978 to become professional. After 4 seasons at UTA, he is transferred to Steaua Bucharest, where he gradually becomes part of the first 11 players.

He was called "The Hero of Sevilla" after defending all four consecutive penalties in the final of the European Champions Cup with FC Barcelona, which was played in Seville, on 7 May 1986, having an enormous contribution to the winning of the trophy by Steaua Bucharest.

After the game, "Duckadam appeared in Romania at the wheel of a Mercedes 190 E, offered by Ramón Mendoza, then president of Real Madrid. It was a reward for being the main artisan of the defeat of the great rival of Barcelona.

In the same season when he celebrated the best performance of a romanian team, his career was suddenly interrupted due to an aneurysm that forced him to suffer a surgery to the right arm, which led him to get out of performance football at the age of 27 years.

3 years after the European Champions Cup final in 1989, Duckadam returned to the field for the last two seasons, playing in Division B, at the team Vagonul Arad. He has 133 appearances in Division A, 13 in the Romanian Cup and 9 in the European Champions Cup.
