Chelsea

It is no longer news about Chelsea’s transfer ban coming up, but according to the club, they will try to take the push further for a second attempt, so as to be able to make signings the coming window after their previous appeal was rejected by FIFA few weeks ago.

There have been lots of talking points going on around Chelsea whether they will be able to cope with the transfer ban if their second attempt fails since they are a club known for bringing in players every transfer window. There are also talks going on currently about the future of the Chelsea manager, due to Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top 4 like a difficult mountain to climb as they blew up their two glorious opportunities of claiming the number 3 spot. Rumors have it that the club is making plans for viable replacements and are also looking for a manager who can utilize the youths more, as Sarri has shown in his career not putting trust on youth players, which is really a thing of concern for the Chelsea fans.

Looking at Chelsea’s recent poor results and how they have been really struggling to win enough games to comfortably take them into the top 4, some section of the fans losing patience and are crying out for a change of manager, while some section are believing in the manager and trusting in his ideas of football and philosophies.

The sad news is that, whether Chelsea decides to sack the manager or not, the transfer ban is almost certain to take effect sooner than later which means that the club needs to start making plans how they will cope and make the most of the transfer ban situation. It is an interesting talking point and I will be sharing my own opinion how I think Chelsea can survive ban period…

But before I talk about my opinions and reasons, let’s take a brief look at what will be the key factor to how Chelsea can successfully cope with the transfer ban when it takes effect…

The loan army

This is one of Chelsea’s biggest strengths as they have loads of players outside on loan. According to reports, over 40 players are currently out on loan to different clubs and some are performing at a top level. The good news is that most of these players on loan are real quality players who can slot into the first team of most teams. With the number of quality players currently on loan, Chelsea will be forced to recall some of these players and integrate them into the team.

For me, I still feel that there are some players who are on loan at the moment that are better than some of the players in the current Chelsea squad and can play the way Sarri wants to play (if he still retains his job as the Chelsea manager).

Talking about players who are currently on loan, I have decided to create my best starting 11 including some of the loan players…

Looking at my starting 11, the obvious question would be where is Hazard?... well, I didn’t include him for next season because I am assuming he will be gone for Real Madrid. On the starting 11, I also drop quite a few current players because I feel these ones included are performing better in my opinion (maybe that will change next season… who knows).

Two other obvious questions will be why I dropped Azpillicueta who is the current Chelsea captain… the reason is quite clear, he hasn’t been up to the top level as a right-back this season, he has so many failed crosses and doesn’t really possess the abilities of a true modern right back. Reece James has been bossing it and performing at a top level which makes him my preferred right-back of choice. The next is Luiz who has provided quite a good number of assists from defense… for me, if Luiz decided to stay at the club next season, I think he can still rotate with Rudiger depending on the fixture, but Christensen for me is a calmer and better defender.

Yet another noticeable change is dropping out Willian and Pedro. For me, these two players are probably two of the oldest wingers in the premier league and I feel they are on the decline. Hudson Odoi and Pulisic are two very young and electric players who can basically do even more on the pitch (except for the fact that they don’t possess the experience of Willian and Pedro). For the striking position, I am also assuming that Chelsea won't extend Higuain's loan.

These are not all the players to be included from the loan army, there are others that can as well be utilized either as a starter or as a substitute.

Finally, with these players and many others not included, I think Chelsea will be fine during the transfer ban period and can even challenge for major trophies if the manager gets it right and makes use of the right players.

And that is a wrap…

What do you think about my starting 11 and do you think Chelsea can successfully cope with the transfer ban?

I would love to read your own opinions… Enjoy your day.
