Latest reports coming out from a few notable and reliable sources states that the deal between Thiago Silva joining Chelsea is getting very close as the player who just played his last game in a PSG shirt have chosen Chelsea and have decided to play in the premier league and join Chelsea. According to these reports and sources, Thiago Silva is willing to accept a much lower wage fee and a 2-year deal from Chelsea.
This news has raised a lot of talking points and some fans have their different opinions about this deal. Some say he is getting close to 36 years and that the premier league might be too tough for a player who is about to turn 36. While some after seeing his performance yesterday against probably the best-attacking team in world football at the moment and his status as one of the best defenders in the world for a good number of years running, believe if he deliver top-level performances for Chelsea for at least 2 seasons.

His leadership and defending qualities cannot be questioned regardless of how old he is at the moment. This is something Chelsea have greatly missed ever since John Terry left the club. One of their major problems last season was their poor defense which saw them concede more goals than any of the teams in the top half of the premier league table. After watching his play yesterday in the champions league final against Bayern Munich and putting up a fantastic performance, then I think his age shouldn’t be a problem. The defense isn’t much a demanding position for a player his age, so I think he will be fine. He will definitely bring those leadership qualities that is missing in the Chelsea defence and also will help fix Chelsea’s defensive problems in the short term while giving Chelsea time to scout for reliable replacements in the center back positions. Above all, I think he will be a great signing for Chelsea and lots of Chelsea fans can’t wait for the deal to be done and to see him in a Chelsea shirt.
