This is the follow-up post of my previous post on which left-back option will be the best fit for Chelsea. As we all know, Chelsea is actively looking to reinforce their defensive positions as well as the goalkeeping area as Kepa hasn’t shown why he is the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. This season, Chelsea has conceded the most goals than the top 10 teams in the premier league, the most they’ve conceded as a club probably since the Roman era. While a lot of fans have attributed the goals they’ve conceded to their poor defense this season, the truth is that some of the goals they’ve conceded had come from poor goalkeeping. With this, Frank Lampard has shown that he isn’t happy with the goalkeeping situation with his team at the moment and what a new goalkeeper who can save Chelsea points single-handedly.

A lot of names have popped up over the past few seasons and some have been strongly linked to Chelsea since the restart. However, with the price tag of some of the names liked, the realistic targets have been narrowed down drastically. Andre Onana, Nick Pope and Dean Henderson are names that have been heavily linked to Chelsea this past few weeks. However, Andre Onana and Nick Pope seems to be the most realistic options as Man United might not want to let go of Dean Henderson considering how poor De Gea have been for the most parts this season. Nonetheless, nothing is impossible in the word of transfers. De Gea is on a huge contract and Man United and with the abilities Dean Henderson possesses, he wouldn’t want to come back to Man United to sit on the bench. This makes is very much possible for Chelsea to secure his services if the right offer is offered to Man United and if the player wants to move to the next level.

For me, I think the best option will be for Chelsea to sign Nick Pope as he has the right attributes to succeed at Chelsea and be one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Onana is the youngest among the two, but some fans still have doubts about his overall goalkeeping game and whether he can adapt to the premier league where there will be quality shots fired at him. Nevertheless, any goalkeeper Chelsea buys among these 3 will be a massive upgrade to what they have at the moment. But that is not to say that Kepa should be gotten rid of or isn’t going to be a world-class goalkeeper in the future as he has shown that he has some world-class abilities sometimes the best thing for him is to probably go out on loan for about 2 seasons so he can fully regain his confidence back and develop his skills even more, so Chelsea can decide if they want him back, and if he shows a lot of top qualities in his loan spell, then Chelsea would most likely have no choice than to recall him. With that said, it is obvious that Chelsea will have a new goalkeeper in their starting 11 for next season, but who that will be is still a probability.

What do you think? – Which goalkeeper do you think will fit Chelsea the best?

I would love to read your thoughts and opinions… Enjoy your day.
