BELGIAN LEAGUE OFF-SEASON NEWS UPDATE

First Transfers Waasland Beveren

Waasland was in an uncertain position not knowing for sure if they were going to be allowed to play in the first division. Because of this, they started late with their transfers and only made the first 2 just shy of 2 weeks before the start of the new season. Pirard who was former 2nd goalkeeper from Stvv will replace Davy Roef who was loaned from Anderlecht. The Anderlecht goalie was one of the strong holders of the team at times last season so I do expect them to get more goals against especially early on in the season. 19-year-old midfielder Xian Emmers will come over from Inter and is being loaned with an option to buy. Many top clubs were interested in him but he needs to get more experience first. He should be a great asset for the team despite his age

Hagi to Racing Genk!

The son of the living legend Gheorghe Hagi will join Genk and replace Malinoskyi in the team. The 20-year-old Romanian midfielder played a strong EC U21 and sparked interest by some of the biggest teams in the world (Ajax, Barca, Man City). Genk is said to have paid around 8 Million and seems about ready and armed for the new season.

Hairemans to Kv Mechelen

Antwerp public favorite Geoffrey Hairemans will likely make a move to Kv Mechelen after the team got 2 players for his position (Coopman & De Sart). He had already difficulties to make it into the A-Squad last season and would have had an even harder time this season to do so.

Andrew Hjulsager to Oostende

Oostende has been one of the teams that was very active during the transfer period so far. Andrew Hjulsager who is a 24-year-old Danish attacking winger will join the team coming over from Celta De Vigo. He signed for 2 seasons with an option for a 3rd.

Yuma Suzuki Stvv

There has been limited incoming transfer news from Sint-Truiden while they lost a couple of key players. The team has strong connections with Japan and Japanese striker Yuma Suzuki will join them. The 23-year-old was linked to Stvv before and the transfer has now been made official. He comes over from Kashima Antlers where he scored 11 goals last season. He will be replacing Daichi Kamada in the team.
