Solskjær's legendary status at Man United remains intact

The news media in the past 24 hours is filled with a flurry of posts and articles about the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjær as Manchester United manager. To some United supporters, Ole's sacking carries mixed feelings as he's adored by the Reds faithful, but with things going terribly in the past one month, it was time for the management to wield the axe.

In Solskjær's thirty-five months in charge as manager of Man United, he and his team reached some heights and gave the supporters moments they will never forget. A look at some of those moments and what he achieved.

The Famous UCL Victory Against Paris Saint Germain.

06 March 2019 was the day - a memorable one indeed. Solskjær's young Manchester United team enjoyed a famous victory as they beat Paris Saint Germain on a fantastic UCL night. A historic win!

An injury-depleted Man United side defied the odds as they went away from home and defeated PSG 3 - 1 at Parc des Princes. A brace from Romelu Lukaku and an injury-time penalty converted by Marcus Rashford ensured that Manchester United progressed to the quarter-final stage of the 2018/2019 UCL campaign. Recall that in the reverse 1st leg fixture, PSG beat Manchester United 2 - 0 at home turf in Old Trafford but this wasn't enough to prevent their elimination.

The Southampton Goal Fest!

A rampant Manchester United showed zero mercy as they destroyed Southampton in a premier league fixture played at Old Trafford on 02 February 2021.

Goals from Aaron Wan-bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Bednarek (OG), Cavani, brace from Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes (PK) and Daniel James ensured Saints suffered a 9-0 thrashing. As Solskjær said in his post-match interview, "It was a game to enjoy".

This was yet another historic game as it equalled the historic nine-goal thumping of Ipswich Town in 1995.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær as Manchester United manager holds the record for the manager with the longest unbeaten away run in the history of the English top-flight - 28 games. A record that stretches from 17 February 2020 - 30 August 2021.

This meant that United went the entire 2020/21 premier league season unbeaten away from home. In this incredible run of 28 games, Man United won 18 and drew 10. The last of it came when Mason Greenwood strike won all 3 points in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on 30 August 2021.

McTominay celebrates his worldie goal against Man City

Manchester United supporters, especially those at the Stretford end of Old Trafford won't be in a hurry to forget Scott McTominay's 40-yard goal against local rivals Manchester City. A true Red will tell you that goal was more than just a goal.

McTominay's strike was the second of the day as Anthony Martial had struck earlier as Manchester United defeated a 2-0 defeat to neighbours Manchester City in a premier league fixture on Sunday, 09 March 2020.

Conclusion

Ole Gunnar Solskjær will forever be adored for these moments and many other things he's done at Manchester United both as a player and manager. Wishing him success in his future endeavours.

I hope you enjoy this one.
