Manchester United Caretaker Manager, Michael Carrick has officially stepped down as First Team Coach and left his position at Manchester United. The news was made public immediately after the 3-2 home win against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side.

Club Official Statement

In an official statement released by the club's media department, Football Director, John Murtough expressed Carrick's final wishes and appreciation to the fans as he leaves Manchester United after 15 years as player, first-team coach and most recently as a caretaker manager. Murtough spoke warmly of Michael and the services he's offered to Manchester United over the years down to these final moments as he hands over the reins to new interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Michael Carrick on his part reminisced his time at Manchester United for the past 15 years. Talked about the fantastic moments he's enjoyed on the pitch as a Man United midfielder and most importantly, the numerous trophies he's won in that period.

But as the saying goes, every good thing must come to an end. After much thinking and deliberations, Michael Carrick decided It was time to leave. He thanked the fans for their amazing support and pledged his loyalty to always be a Man United fan and to always return to watch as many games as possible.

What Could Have Prompted Such A Shocking Decision?

Carrick served as Ole Gunnar Solskjær's assistant in his time at Man United.

This decision certainly comes as a surprise to many, leading us to wonder what could have possibly led to it.🤔

Well, wonder no more as the man himself gave the reason for stepping down. In his post-match interview with club journalist, Carrick cited family as the major reason for his decision. His desire and willingness to take a break from work and spend quality time with his family influenced his decision greatly.

The news also came as a surprise to the Man United players as Michael Carrick revealed that he broke the news to them in the dressing room just 10 minutes after the game against Arsenal.

A player! A coach! A manager! But above all, a genuine Manchester United legend.
