Less than a month left before the start of the II European Games. The opening ceremony of the continental multisport forum will be held at the National Olympic Stadium "Dynamo" in Minsk on June 21, which will receive more than 22 thousand spectators. The opening ceremony is a show that will never happen again. Scenario, scenery, complex choreographic productions, musical numbers and many other creative solutions - all this is created specifically for the Minsk ceremony. Seeing it with my own eyes again is simply impossible.
Traditionally, such ceremonies tell viewers about the country hosting the Games, its history, traditions, famous personalities and their achievements. Viewers from different parts of the world will be able to make a trip to Belarus, the owner of the II European Games, to get acquainted with our beautiful country, its most picturesque corners and the people who live here.
Without revealing the main intrigue of the upcoming ceremony - the name of the headliner of the opening show - the head of the department for the ceremonies and cultural program of the Directorate of the II European Games of 2019, Sergey Khomich noted:

For the first time in the history of such events, the augmented reality technology will be used at the opening ceremony of the II European Games in Minsk. This is one of the most promising technologies of our time, thanks to which virtual objects become part of the real surrounding picture. Guests of the ceremony will be enchanted by the beauty of the Belarusian flora and fauna, will see beautiful animals and birds next to them, will feel the thrill of their closeness and realism.
To take advantage of this unique opportunity and see the 3D elements of the show, the audience of the ceremony needs to install a free mobile application on their smartphones or tablets, which will soon be available for download on the App Store and Google Play. The application is “tied” to a specific spectator location in the stadium and allows you to see the elements of augmented reality right on the screen of a smartphone or tablet. Including those elements of the show, which do not fall into the television broadcast.
In the opening ceremony of the Games, new technologies will be inextricably linked with the history of the Belarusian sport.
“It is symbolic that the torch that was installed at the Dynamo stadium in 1980 within the framework of the Olympics-80 will be lit on June 21. Then he was lit by Alexander Medved, the legendary Belarusian athlete, freestyle wrestler, three-time Olympic champion, multiple world, European and Soviet champion, - said Sergey Khomich. - And now, after almost 40 years, this event will happen again - Alexander Medved will be one of the torchbearers of the opening ceremony. The design of the bowl of fire will undergo significant changes - new decoration changes will appear that will emphasize the nature and essence of the II European Games. ”
Sergey Kalinnikov, technical producer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the II European Games, representing ART CITY 5, the general contractor for organizing the main shows of the forum, revealed some technical aspects of their preparation:
“The organization of such shows is always very ambitious. It is planned to start more than 70 equipment trucks with a total weight of about 200 tons. At the moment, one fifth of all equipment has already been delivered to Dynamo. Now there is one of the most important and difficult stages of installation - the suspension of cable wiring, a structure that allows artists and objects to fly. This is a unique solution that was developed specifically for this ceremony. The installation of cable constructions will be carried out by our contractors from the circus industry. The opening ceremony is 1000 light heads weighing 50-60 kg each, 3000 square meters of screens, 20 tons of stage structures, 6 tons of sound equipment, thousands of involved artists and technical staff.
In early June, we will move on to the testing phase. The next stage is the installation of trusses for lighting and sound equipment, which will begin on May 27. A special protective coating by Ecoteck (manufactured by Bobruisk) is placed on the stadium. It allows you to close the grass cover without damaging it for more than 14 days. At the moment, running tracks are already covered. From June 8, we plan to start partially covering the grass cover, and by June 15, the stadium should look exactly the way viewers and viewers will see it on June 21. ”
Recall that in addition to the solemn opening and closing ceremonies of the II European Games, the Dynamo stadium will become a platform for athletics competitions for athletes from 24 countries. According to Sergey Kalinnikov, “the schedule for dismantling the opening ceremony equipment will be very tight, but the assembly schedule for the closing ceremony will be even more tight”.
It is planned that the dismantling of the opening ceremony equipment will begin immediately after the last spectator leaves the stadium, and takes about 12 hours. June 22 at 14:00 at the Dynamo will begin training athletes.
The montage of the closing ceremony, which will be held on the evening of June 30, will begin on June 28 at around 8:00 pm, as soon as the last spectator of the competition leaves the stadium.
Tickets for all competitions, as well as at the opening and closing ceremonies of the II European Games are available at all ticket offices of the official ticket operator of the Games - Ticketpro company - and also at www.minsk2019.ticketpro.by.The cost of a ticket to sports competitions varies from 5 Belarusian rubles or 2 euros (for foreign citizens) to 50 Belarusian rubles or 20 euros, respectively. The cost of tickets for the Opening Ceremony varies from 150 to 300 Belarusian rubles(from 60 to 120 euros), depending on the category of the place. Ticket prices for the Closing Ceremony are somewhat lower, their cost is from 70 to 150 Belarusian rubles(from 28 to 60 euros).
