The last round of the regular competition of the Jupiler Pro League. While every player is playing for his win bonus or to prove himself to other teams. There are only a few game which actually do matter.

So first let's have a look at the ranking:

What do we already know?

Lokeren will finish last in the regular competition. Normally this would mean a relegation to second division (Proximus League) but there are too many things going on to be sure of that. KV Mechelen today became the Champion of the Proximus League, so they should promote back to the Jupiler Pro League but they are involved in a investigation of Match fixing. If there will be evidence of this, they will relegate to the Amateur Leagues in stead of promoting. This would save Lokeren! The other safe line for Lokeren could be Mouscron. There are a lot of financial irregularities in Mouscron, which could result in not getting a license for next season. So again Lokeren could profit from this. So yes we are sure that the will end last but no so sure about relegation.

On the other side of the table we also already know that Genk will win the regular competition. This assures them of an Ticket for the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. Nothing more nothing less.

Club Brugge, Standard, Antwerp and Anderlecht will join Genk in Play Off I.

What still has to be decided?

Like I wrote at the start of this post only one game really matters. The teams already qualified for Play Off I will of course do want to take 1.5 extra point to Play Off I but who will be team 6!

This will be Gent or St Truiden. As the game of the calender for them is: St Truiden - AA Gent.
St Truiden needs to win this game, otherwise Gent will join the other 5! It is hard to say who deserves it the most. St Truiden for an overall outstanding season or Gent with it's magnificent comeback after the winter break? If we do look at the points both teams do deserve it as much as the other. But everybody has a preference and so do I.

I do hope that St Truiden will win the game and play for the second time in their existence PO I. I really do like how they play, they did loose some key players during the winter break and still are playing decent football. One of the key players even had to be sold to ... AA Gent. They do have the home advantage and of course the pitch. St Truiden plays there home game on artificial grass!

Time will tell and we will know tomorrow around 8 p.m. local time!

The Prediction of the model!

Cheers,

Peter
