Karim Benzema who recently signed a year extension to his contract that keeps him with the club till summer of 2022 may likely say goodbye to Real Madrid when his contract expires. According to media, he has no intention of renewing his contract even though there is an offer to stay with the team because he has always dreamed of ending his career at his hometown club.
Despite great achievement he has made in Real Madrid by winning the Champions league, Laliga, Copa Del Rey and World Club Cup he chose to return to Lyon where he has played before as a young player. His journey started from the Lyon youth, he begin his professional career to play for the senior team from 2004 to 2009 season, in 2009 his journey continued and transferred to Real Madrid.
Benzema was the main striker in Real Madrid since his arrival at the Club form the greatest attacking force with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo known as "BBC" but as time goes on Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus and Gareth Bale lost form totally. Benzema has made 10 goals and 5 assist this season for Real Madrid, if Benzema left Real Madrid need to get a successor to fit in his place.
Though there was already a signed player to take over which is Luka Jovic but his performance was not BJP to expectations in Real Madrid and he is currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt with no option to buy, which means Real Madrid are willing to keep but they want him to regain his form.
