Good day Sports lovers, it's been a not too happy weekend for an average Barcelona fan like me, not after Valencia put us to the sword in yesterday's league encounter at Mestella. The home team ensured the newly appointed Barcelona boss Setien taste his first defeat after recording two wins in his previous two games as Barcelona coach. The game which ended 2-0 in Favour of Valencia threw open an opportunity for Zidane's Real Madrid to cash in and topple the catalan giants as league leaders. Barcelona who are currently topping the table with 43 points from 21 games may have to abdicate their spot if Los Blancos record a win over Valladolid today. Zidane's side will no doubt be grateful to Valencia for this kind gesture, at least, it brings them even more closer to their quest of lifting the trophy. Real Madrid who are also sitting on second position have 43 points to their name, but with 20 games so far. Whatever happened to Barcelona yesterday, one thing should be certain for Setien, Barca needs a center forward to boost the attack. Not too long ago, many fans were celebrating the rather surprising arrival Setien, whom not so many predicted or expected to be the manager of Barcelona.
Many expected either Pochettino or maybe Xavi(who declined the offer) to take over the wheels, but the club opted for the former Real Betis Boss who finished 10th on the table with his former club. While many sports analysts are of the view that Valverde would have been allowed to finish this season, others are of the View that Setien needs a little more time to experiment his tactics on the team. But isn't experimenting the team in the middle of the season a big danger for the squad? We're talking about a team that has qualified for the Champions league round of 16, topping the league and still in for the Copa Del Rey. However, whatever woes Barcelona is going through should be the least of Madrid's worries. The Los Blancos have seen some hard time and are currently building from their ruins. They seem rejuvenated and will not joke with this opportunity to reclaim the top spot when they take on Valladolid later today. Zidane's side are the favorites going into this game and I will be surprised if they finish the game without grabbing all three points. Looking at their previous five meetings across all competitions, Real Madrid have recorded three wins over Valladolid, and two draws are the best results their opponents have been able to harvest from those fixtures. It's a huge chance to lead the league leaders with 3 points and I don't see Real Madrid throwing it into the gutters.
