Despite being linked to Real Madrid and Man United, the german international signed in March a new contract keeping him at Borussia Dortmund until 2022.

“Dortmund is my home, BVB is my club. As a kid I dreamed of playing in black and yellow, and I’d like this this extension to be a clear sign for the future.”

Though had his continuous injuries not blighted him over the years, he would be remembered as one of the very best. No need to explain that Marco Reus has the qualities to of a top world class player. But he is still not on the same level as the current super stars like Hazard, Kroos, De bruyne (Ronaldo and Messi are on a completely different level, that`s why they are not mentioned). Not anymore. This will be the season of Marco Reus. Short and clear. But why?

1. Because Marco Reus loves the new Borussia coach Lucien Favre. The Dortmund star worked together with Favre at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 2011/12

“I’ve had quite a few club coaches and among them, Favre is probably the best I’ve ever had. Both in the dressing room and on the field, where he did everything himself and had total control over proceedings."

2. Favre’s tactics will get the best out of him

Marco Reus is likely to be given a free role to play under the new Dortmund coach. Favre’s high intensity and quick passing tactic will be well suited to Reus’ style of play and it is the kind of football Dortmund adore. The Swiss enjoys the lion’s share of possession in the matches and that is when Reus is at his best.

3. He is finally fit

“I would give all my money just to be healthy and play football again”, said Marco Reus last October.

WIth a total of 60 games missed in the last two seasons, it seemed like the road was it for Marco Reus. Yes but no. He did it again. He was in Russia with the national team and now is looking forward to be the big leader of Borussia. Reus` medical reportedly showed that his fitness level is perfect.

4. Dortmund will challenge Bayern

If Bayern Munich approach games against Gladbach with trepidation, it's down to Favre. And for a first time in his bundesliga career he manages a title-contender team. Without a doubt Borussia will fight for the title this year. When it comes to Marco Reus, there will perhaps never be a more loyal or beloved player at Borussia Dortmund. But he needs motivation and now he has it again

5. He's in his prime and he fuc.... deserves it.
