The season is starting soon and with it promises to come all the drama. With teams such as Liverpool and Manchester City preparing to kick start their season, it surely would not be long until the season is in full swing. But until then, we have the pleasure of viewing some entertaining friendlies which would keep us entertained. One of those friendlies poised to start would the match between M'gladbach and Chelsea. This is the last match before the season starts for Chelsea para match in the super cup. It is surely going to be a fiery affair.
Chelsea
Chelsea is currently facing some crisis. Eden Hazard left the club just when they were being slapped with a transfer ban. This means that they do not have the chance to replace their star players for at least the next two windows. This is worrisome as many of their rivals have significantly strengthened during the summer. With Arsenal bringing Nicolas Pepe who has been dubbed the Hazard of Arsenal, Chelsea surely has cause to be worried about their spot in the premier league this season. The friendlies are a way to test just how well they would be able to do in the league. One of their motivations would be the appointment of their former player Frank Lampard as coach of the club. This could mean that the players have a coach which they respect and look forward to working with. The signing of the winger from Dortmund would also help ease any departure pain that was brought by the departure of Eden Hazard.
M’gladbach
M’gladbach enjoyed a good season in Germany last time and it is almost time to return to the league. They did not finish the season as they would have hoped having lost 2-0 to Dortmund. They would thus be looking to crown their efforts in the friendlies they have played with a win here against Chelsea. A win here would also do a lot for their self-confidence. Chelsea is the Europa League champions and this means they bring a lot more to the table. It would be interesting to see how they go about their business in this game.
The momentum which the pre-season games can generate is simply fantastic and Chelsea are reaping the results. With wins against opponents as varied as Reading and Barcelona, Chelsea would have confidence in their ability to handle the big issues as well as not being complacent in the small ones. It is right now for them an almost flawless preseason with the only hiccup coming at Bohemians where they were held to a 1-1 draw. A win here would further illustrate the calm which they are currently enjoying under their new coach.
Their opponents, M’gladbach, would be hoping for a weaker team when the match starts as Chelsea may very well rotate their squad to give everyone some playing time. No matter who shows up for either team, we can be sure that we have some entertaining football on our hands
