Liverpool has wounded lions. Having lost 3-0 to Barcelona despite dominating most of the match, they would be gutted at the loss and would want to make amends. Making amends would mean keeping up the pace with Manchester City and forcing the league right to the final matchday of the league. It would mean winning Newcastle at their home stadium. Liverpool is currently 2nd in the league having amassed a whopping 91 points from the 36 games that have been played so far. They are on course to get one of the highest points ever in the premier league. It remains to be seen if they can claim the title at the end of the season.
Form
When it comes to the form, Newcastle has managed to win two of their last six games they have played. The remaining matches have ended up in two losses and two draws. They would be happy that they remain unbeaten in three games and would surely be hoping that this would give them confidence moving forward.
Liverpool, on the other hand, having lost to Barcelona have won five games out of the six matches that have been played. Despite the loss to Barcelona, they would take confidence from the fact that they are still very much in top form and can defeat Newcastle if they play at their own standards. It would be interesting to see how the match turns out at the end.
With two matches left to go, there is no margin for error. Liverpool just has to keep on winning if they want to claim the title.
