One of the best leagues in the world is the English Premier League and as we all know, several well-known protagonists would be seeking a share or a shoot at the trophy this time around. However, for most people, the race for the title would be one between two teams who set the pace last season and that would be Liverpool and Manchester City. We get the chance to see these two teams in action against one another in the curtail raiser event which takes place just before the start of every season. That is the FA community shield. This is to be played at Wembley stadium setting up one of the most sumptuous game right now in the English premier league.

Liverpool

Liverpool is the champions of Europe and deservedly so. While they narrowly missed out on the premier league last season, their exploits in Europe would surely have been enough to cover up the loss they felt. However, this season, their eyes would no doubt be on the main prize at home. The community shield while effectively still a friendly match is one way in which they can gauge their ability to get the desired results this season. With points well above 90 and still not being able to finish in 1st place, they would have to be more than perfect to get the right attitude. Manchester City would surely not give them even an inch.

There were times last season where Manchester City would have thought that the title has evaded them. Liverpool had led them by well over 5 points. However, due to some luck and some awful draw by Liverpool during that period, they were able to get the job done at the end with just one point separating them from Liverpool. With this in their minds, it would be interesting to see how they would cope with a match against the reds just before the season starts. A cup is up for grabs here and they would want to win here to start their season on a positive note.

Klopp who is the head coach of Liverpool has said that Liverpool have been different this premier league and it is not hard to figure out why he said that. They have suffered horrendous losses and truth be told, they have looked a shadow of themselves. However, Klopp was sure to add that they would see a different animal when they face Man City in the shield match. When this match kicks off on Sunday, it would be interesting to see just how much of a different animal they would look like in the future.

For Manchester City, they have had a better preseason affair than Liverpool and this might likely show throughout the game. However, they also experienced losses during this time, especially in the premier Asia trophy competition. They would want to put that behind them and forge ahead in what should be one of the tightest premier league season ever.
