Like a marathon runner, Liverpool is reaching towards the finish line, but with each stride, victory seems further and further away. Today a massive hurdle stands in their way.
Earlier in the season, I posited that, if Liverpool remained in Champions League towards the end of the season while still trying to compete for the league title, they would really begin to struggle as both competitions pulled them in opposing directions. Today is a perfect test for the hypothesis.
Liverpool is coming off a frustrating and exhausting draw against Bayern. Lucky for them, United also competed mid-week in Champions League and suffered a loss to PSG. In the weeks previous to UCL, Liverpool had back-to-back draws against mid-table teams. Then a draw in UCL. Here’s their test: can they shake this dip in form and get back to their winning ways.
That’s the real question and one they better have a quick answer for. A slip up here, with this being their game in hand against City, could be an enormous step back if they don’t get all three points. Mistakes here could see so much of their hard work undone.

My Prediction
With the return of VVD for Liverpool and Lukaku’s poor form, I like Liverpool’s chances of keeping United at bay. I expect this to be low scoring with the league’s best and second best keepers guarding goal today. These derby matches are always hard to call, but I think this will be a back and forth slugfest with few goals. I think the 2.5 under would be a nice pick ScorumBet. Prediction: Draw 1 – 1

The 2 most successful club teams in the EPL go head to head. United's recent revival has coincided with Liverpool's slump, and I've no doubt that the red half of Manchester would love to further derail the Merseysiders title hopes even if it does strengthen City's push. Liverpool need the footballing equivalent of an ice-cold shower to wake them from their current slumbers. The pace and directness with which they started the campaign has been replaced with uncertainty and a lack of assuredness in the final third. Could this be the game that sees them shake off the cobwebs and reassert themselves at the top of the league?

ManUnited will be looking forward to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League alive when they host a seemingly invincible Liverpool side at Old Trafford. United knows that Arsenal and Chelsea are both sniffing around and waiting for them to drop from top four, I don't think Ole will allow his good run so far to be hampered by Liverpool. Klopp's side knows that dropping points now is not part of their options if they must maintain their lead ahead of the ever pressing Manchester City side. For Salah, it's either win or nothing. With Martial and Lingard likely absence, Liverpool will have little to worry about United's attack.

After the much-improved performance so far in the Premier League, Liverpool fans start to believe this is going to be their year. There wouldn’t be any perfect time for this match as Liverpool keeps fighting to keep their hope alive to win their first EPL title while Man United has brilliantly recovered 11 points gap of UCL spot after their last defeat in Prem against Liverpool at Anfield. After the last meeting, Man United is playing great football under the caretaking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has earned the most points in Premier League than any other teams in last 2 months period. United’s back 4 has been exposed very much so far in the League and once again Liverpool frontmen will going to take the full advantage of those free spaces in United’s box. No matter what result will be but we all are sure that this one will be one of the best matches of the season.
